i don't know for sure if anyone has tried this, but me and my friend were changing the brakes on his 2001 Toyota Tacoma trd edition and noticed that the calipers had very similar if not the same spacing for the knuckles as my 2g eclipse. The reason I'm asking was because they look just like the Brembo brakes that everyone swaps from the evo. what would need to be changed besides the calipers and getting the right size rotors to get the toyota calipers to work on the eclipse.

Rear Brembo calipers off an Evo require nothing, they are a direct bolt on replacement and can use our rotors. If you were to find away to finagle those calipers on you would at the very least need the same size rotors as what is used on the Toyota. You may also need a custom bracket or way to space in or out. It's not like we go around looking at Toyota brakes and figuring ways out to do this or if it can be done, you either guinea pig this yourself or just get the Evos and be done with it.

if i can make FD calipers with 05 Altima rotors work then you can probalby make anything fit LOL.

The weight of the calipers would be a concern but even more so is the bore size. The later evo piston bore sizes are closely matched to the DSM's master cylinder bore. This means you aren't dicking around with the brake bias.

I can't agree that the bore size is going to be as big an issue, we throw VR4 (3KGT) calipers or Evo front calipers on these cars all the time with no BMC upgrade. I guess, while we can't tell you much, pictures would still help a little. I just don't see the benefit in this, I doubt you will get them cheaper off that truck than you will off an Evo.

The bore size wouldn't be much of a problem. You can get the rotors bore out to any size for about $20 at the machine shop, most Toyota are bit smaller than DSM. I even had different bolt pattern re-drill and it didnt cost much. Just remember that most truck rotors aren't proformance orientated, I've seen some that weigh about 40 lb and you would loose alot hp if there that heavy.

ive actually wondered this to, i do know that the calipers were 4 bot like brembos idk if they are brembos or not. ive never actually held the calipers though so i wouldnt know how they would fit

Well my experience with them is that they are pretty heavy calipers, and Ive drove a few tacomas, tundras, and 4 runners and they all have awful brakes. Now im sure they would be ok in a lighter car but I would look for a better quality caliper.

i see what you are saying about the rear calipers and i agree with you there but the fronts are what is so expensive. not to mention you still have to get a bracket made or get a set of jdm galant knuckles i was just sugesting something else for the front. aslo im a nood that why i posted in this forum so i dont completly understand how brakes work i admit but if this works it would have the visual effect of the brembos for cheaper obviously i dont know how they would perform either.

The Evo fronts are expensive, yes, because us DSMers are so dumb and keep buying them at their asking price. There are cheaper, proven alternatives though.

3000GT VR4 front calipers are 4 piston units that fit on our car with the same bracket as needed for the Evos. And while I can't confirm it, I know ours and 3KGTs OEM rotors are Brembo and I bet the calipers on the 3KGTs are Brembo made as well. They work just as well. I sold a set of calipers, brackets, rotors and pads for $250.00 shipped recently, if you take your time you can find a similar deal.

im not suggesting using the caliper and rotor just the caliper. good observation though i know that you would still have to find a rotor to fit but that doesnt seem to be very hard to do.
