THIS THURSDAY
EVERY THURSDAY
TURNBULL RUN AFTERWARDS

I might stop by tonight on my way home from school but I don't know what time I will get out of here.

It was raining as I got back to West Covina so I just came home and now I am watching Superbad and drinking.

heres the technical definition

is a Japanese word literally meaning "pass." It refers to a mountain pass or any of the narrow, winding roads that can be found in and around the mountains of Japan and other geographically similar areas.

Placing a series of turns or bends in the steep roads that provide access to and from the high elevations of the mountains was intended to be a safety measure, usually to prevent commuters from reaching unstable speeds or creating excessive wear on the vehicles associated with them. It is therefore ironic that these same passes have become popular with street racers and motorsport enthusiasts in the last two decades, providing a dangerous and therefore challenging course where nightly competitions are not unheard of.

but heres what people get confused

Stemming from this surge in popularity, the term has been pirated and misused by overzealous enthusiasts (often incorrectly as a verb) to erroneously describe almost any event involving street racing, even when there are no mountain passes involved.

Another common mistake is the association of drifting with touge, implying at times that the words share a common definition. While drift is considered a style or form of driving, touge does not necessarily have any binding relationship to motorsports. In most occasions, a touge driver only drifts his car to shake off excessive entry speeds.

hope that helps LOL

Touge - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It is the Japanese word for "pass" referring to mountain pass. Here in So. Cal I have heard it used to describe everything from just mountain driving to recklessly racing in the canyons.

edit: Damn man, how on earth did we post at the same time 4 hours after his post?

'Touge' is also defined as one of the easiest methods to spot a ricetard when you enjoy driving canyon roads. Anyone who refers to it as 'touge' when discussing it falls into that category, and needs a verbal b****slap, if not a more literal one. Gets on my asshairs about as badly as the 'JDM' idiots. Then again, it's funny to hear the responses when you call it 'tooj'.

Banners as above are also why I don't post any specifics of my usual roads online, and request that anyone I show them to in-person do the same, so as not to become overpopulated with potential idiots (forums are rather open things, after all), leading to an unsafe environment on otherwise completely deserted roads.

yeah but ask any real person who likes to canyon and they'll literaly use touge,
its just like if you say lets go canyon?
how are you gonna canyon?/same thing.
ohh yeah and those are not the directions to that road
anyone who does do that is an idiot.

I agree with that. I hate it when you get retards on mtn roads. Cause its ridiculously dangerous.

I still might check this out next Thursday but I don't know about running Turnbull afterwards. More shady shit goes down on that road than GMR and that is saying a lot. Plus the group that meets there would be a great influence on whether or not I want any of them driving near my car.

Canyonrunning. Mountain driving. Hillclimb. Technical road course. I use the first of those most times, to describe a spirited drive along a narrow, twisty road, usually located in some backwoods area with minimal to zero traffic in the interests of safety. Which is why I do not frequent a number of roads popular among the 'touge' kids, a good number of which are public and have frequent two-way traffic, usually made up of 'touge' kids going both up and down at the same time. As I said... people who seriously call it 'touge' generally are made fun of as ricekids by the regulars. Hell, most of them don't even know enough to take a slow cruise up first thing to check the condition of the road before they take off balls-out, and usually end up causing an accident.. whether it's just themself and a wall, or multiple vehicles end up in their mess. It's generally the easy way to pick out an idiot who doesn't respect the road, and who will be a hazard throughout an otherwise enjoyable and (proper precautions taken) safe evening of driving.

I might follow along as well, though highly doubt I'll head to Turnbull afterward.

Lool! Tooje! Rofl

For added hilarity, try other pronunciations. 'Too g*y', 'toogie', 'tuggy', 'tow-jee' and so on. Head g'splody was never as much fun. Bonus points if you convince them that the way they all pronounce it is incorrect (which it incidentally is, but that's an accent thing) and they leave using one of the other pronunciations.
