Hi,

I have 17" rims on my 2nd gen right now and I weighted them with tire pumped to 30 psi, they came out to 42 pounds each. Tire size is 215 50 17

I would guess the tire weight is about 10-15 lbs, and air .5-1lb, I'm not sure. Does anyone have stock pumped up tire/rim weight for a 2nd gen? Is 42 too much?

Also, I read that for every extra pound on tire is like adding 10 pounds to the car, is that true?

Ok, one more, how much does a 1gen 16" steelie with tire weight(about)? Thanks

The air in a tire would weigh less than half and ounce, it wouldn't even be worth considering.

42 lbs per wheel/tire is actually not bad. On average, a 215/50/17 tire will weigh 24-26 lbs which leaves you with 16-18 lbs per rim which is great by any standards.

Actually I grabbed a spare tire in my garage and weighted it, brand new, 235 45* 17 and it came to 22lb, I would guess the current tires would weight about 20Lb leaving 22LB per rim, pretty heavy, but still, almost stock, maybe better.
