Hey guys, just picked up a 93 Talon TSI AWD, its an auto and based off of the symptoms I'm getting I'm pretty sure the torque converter is failing.

I owned another 1G but it was 5 speed so I'm a little new to this automatic stuff.

The problem is the guy I bought it off of said he put a 6 bolt crank in, does that mean I need a different torque converter? Or would it just be using a different flexplate?

Also a guy in my part of town has a torque converter from a FWD, are they interchangeable or not?

Thanks for the help guys.

Im not so sure a 6 bolt crank will fit in a 7 bolt block,... maybe he ment the whole 6 bolt short block? Hopefully someone thats knows will chime in. It shouldnt matter as long as he used a the 6 bolt flex plate, the 7 bolt flex plate wont work in the 6 for obvious reasons :p

As for the torque converter, their the same between fwd and awd.

Here's the symptoms when driving the car, just got it and trying to sort things out...

Car turns over (cranks a little longer than my old DSM) but does fire every time.

Idles and revs fine in park and neutral, so engine seems to be running fine in that sense.

When I put it into any gear though(D,L,R whatever, power or eco) it kinda squats like it wants to go and the revs drop and sounds like its going to stall, but doesn't)

Then when I take my foot of the brake to go, it usually doesn't move and I have to give it some gas for it to catch and go.

Then when I hit the gas it doesn't really accelerate that fast, bit of a whine noise, and under light throttle there is a vibration/shudder throughout the entire car.
