Torn motor mount question

Hey all, I'm going to be buying the Prothane motor mount inserts for my 99 GST in a couple of weeks. The predicament I'm in right now is that the front transmission mount is pretty badly torn up and I've read some conflicting information about what to do about this mount. Some sources say that it's perfectly OK to pop the inserts into the torn mount and others tell me I should get a good condition mount and use the inserts.

For my own peace of mind I think I would much rather get a good condition mount and then use the inserts but if it really makes no difference at all then I suppose I'm saving myself a few bucks. What do you all think?

well depending on who you get you mount from you well be replacing that rubber piece anyway it is not harmful to your car for just that one to be bad so wait for your new mounts and you will be very happy when you install them because believe it or not they make a world of difference

Considering they are insert and not full replacements, I would wait until you had a good mount. I have prothane mounts on 3 of the 4 mounts, and it does make a big difference.

the 2g prothane kit has tranny and timing cover full replacements, the radiator and firewall are just sides/inserts.

Thanks for the replys guys. I figured it would be best to just get a front transmission mount that's in one piece since like you said, they're inserts and not full replacements. I'm not sure why some storefronts advertise that the inserts will work fine on torn mounts (as a remedy, basically).
