I was trying to tune by myself (prolly my first mistake) The log below was a third gear pull on 91 octane with the outside temp around 80 degrees. Boost was at 1.15 ~17psi. The part that is really confusing to me is the 02 readings. Now I was under the impression that you are supposed to richen things up when you see your timing drop (ie at 5.5K) but the .96 02 readings make me think that I am too rich already. Should I be leaning out the entire rpm band and starting over? Appreciate your time and comments.

Maybe it's the fact that you're on 91 so you need to be richer then most?
So you think I should be adding even more fuel?

Your loss of 1 degree of timing at 5.5k is probably the ECU dropping you into a lower timing map as you increase airflow. You could try adding 1 or 2% at that Ne Point and see if that works, but you are liable to see the same drop after the change just move up in the rpm range. You really don't reach peak airflow until about 6k.

I would be more concerned about your banjacked timing around 6100. The stock O2 sensor is virtually worthless to tune with. I have seen 2g dsmlink logs with 0.86 - 0.88v on the stock 2g O2 and no knock.

Other than that, you pull looks pretty good. :thumb:

Thank you for the comments. I am going to tune some and see what I can get. One last question, my initial timing starts 7. Should this be higher?

Most people say you don't want it to drop below 7 - 10, so you are right on the border That's for 550cc injectors, 650's are different but I really didn't look to see what you have because I'm lazy :coy: .

You could try adding a little fuel there and see if you are knocking, but it's really not a big deal. It looks like if we can get rid of the banjacked timing above 6k it's time to turn up the boost :sneaky: .

Enjoy! :thumb:

I believe youre running pretty rich as it is, even on cali 91. I dont think adding more fuel across the range will benfit you in any way.

Tuning with the narrowband O2 sensor is worthless and a waste of time. You can see that the O2 voltage is consistent throughout the run 0.96V. But look what happens to his/her timing above 6k....the ECU jacks it hard. This is caused by knock, which only in extremely rich cases causes knock (AKA rich knock). Rich knock is very rare and not really even worth mentioning.

Adding fuel is the correct thing to do when your timing is getting highjacked by the ECU.

He/she needs to address the timing issue and then the boost can be increased 1 or 2 psi at a time and the car can be relogged to make sure the added airflow isn't causing knock.

So yes adding fuel is what he should be doing.
