2G Too many car problems..

Where to begin. I love DSMs, but this is crazy. I've never ran into as many problems than I have with this car.

Firstly, my car idles at about 1500 RPMs on a good day and over 2k on a bad day is this normal?

Secondly I bought this car with the mods that are on it. I was told it had aftermarket exhaust and BOV. The exhaust sounds sick but the BOV, I can't tell if its hooked up right because right now I got a huge boost leak somewhere. My boost gauge won't even go to 1 psi, the car stalls up and the a/f ratio goes lean as hell before the boost can even kick in and the guy bolted a filter to the end of my MAF intake. I took off the sensor to see the intake pipe was full of gunk, idk if this would cause problems or not.

My check engine light came on and threw the codes P1400, P1500 and P0710. But now its off. I guess my question be where are common are common boost leaks. Also if I uploaded pictures could someone ll me if the BOV is set up right, and how could you tell if your wastegate is stuck open? Because I can hear a whooshing sound when I'm driving so I assume its coming from somewhere I meantioned above.

Boost leaks at any point between the compressor outlet and the head inlets.

Couplers, Hoses, Vacuum Hoses, Gaskets, Injector Seals, Throttlebody shaft seals, etc.

Idle problem sounds like a bad ISC.

Ok I should also add that the guy claimed to have changed the spark plugs and wires so Idk if he did that right. And also sometimes when I start it the orange light that looks like a carosel comes on along with my brake light, they are dimly lit and eventually go off. Also just found out that I have a racing radiator in my car? Its not stock and looks brand new so Idk if that could cause problems. I just want this thing on the road again.. any help would be appreciated

Boost leak is a no bueno, its going to make your car run like that, fix it and im sure you'll be back on the road..

When my alternator washing bad my anti-freeze (carousel) light a brake light were dimly lit too but finally just stayed on, I would check that out as being an alternator maybe.

Ok guys I found out it was a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge boost leak. Right into the inter cooler it was letting everything out.. Now for my next Queston. Why won't my dash lights work? I even replaced the relay fuse and they still don't wanna work. Any help would be nice. Idk I would be without you guys

Oh man...

Dude, your car sounds like its in trouble. It sounds like its being abused to all hell and not getting the proper maintenance.

Your car is going out every night and getting hammered at the bar. He is not eating right and is extremely malnourished. He is blacking out, feeling week, confused and tired. He needs to recover and get better, a bandaid and moore beer wont fix this.

Let him take it easy for a while, you need to nurse him back to health. Beating him up at this point might cause him to die, so just let him get better.

Go through step by step and maintain your car. You said "Ok I should also add that the guy claimed to have changed the spark plugs and wires so Idk if he did that right."

This direction of thought is scary! I mean, it takes 15 mins to change plugs and wires, why not just look for yourself? What plugs are in there? Did you know our cars only "like" NGK(BPR7ES) plugs? What if there are Autolite plugs in there right now?

Ok. so I fixed my boost leak.. But now I have a couple issues... My turbo spools up, kicks in boosts. But my a/f ratio goes lean. But my engine doesn't stall or anything? Is this normal? And the guy before me put a stage 2 clutch in and we had to replace the slave cylinder and now after bleeding it that day I have to keep constantly bleeding it or else my car won't go into gear.. I was told that adjusting the clutch might fix it? Also, replaced relay fuses but my dash lights still won't work. And lastly where could I pick up a service manual for my car? Ididn't get one when I bought it

How much boost. When boosting its kind of normal to get a lean reading. But thats why people get tunes.

the guy before me has the boost gauge so its hooked up to the air pressure I think, because my stock one still works.. But it reads 6 psi.

The stock one in the dash is an electronic guesstamit from the computer. Its not a real reading of how much boost your actually boosting

Well my boost gauge reads 6 psi.. Idk what they push out stock.

I would double check his install of the aftermarket gauge. It should have its own source or tap in the fpr. Is that 6psi full boost? If so you should get a new gauge. At idle the gauge should read vaccume.

Stock is 12 I think.

How much can your boost. Not the highest number it reads but When your full throttle how high is the needle? If its at 6 then you need a new gauge or your having major leaks.

At full throttle its probably at 6-8 psi. No more.

Ugh.. Idk where.. Probably where my old One was.. The hose to the top of the intercooler wasn't even connected.. Ill check everything tomorrow.. carb cleaner at the seals is the easiest way to test ?

I thaught you did a boost leak. Basically it goes on your turbo and you pump air through it. Listen for leaks. But your boost gauge should have a hose going through the firewall and to a vacume source. For example mine is on my throttle body on the P port. Or what most people do is have it on the intake manifold.

Then again. Do you have your a pic of the gauge your using. They do make gauges that read in bar. Im not educated on those though.

i think 2.5 bar or somewhere around there puts the boost in the red zone close to the end of the gauge depending on the gauge....sounds like theres a line thats not right....or maybe you have an internal wastegate someone tinkered with too much....

Yeah I think its a leak. the waste gate is working fine I think. But the after market bov might not be holding the pressure in is my guess. Idk ill get back to you guys about it

The carousel light is your low coolant light. Supposed to look like an old radiator grill.
