hi i am replacing some various banjo bolts and other bolts on my motor as part of my rebuild and was wondering of i should use teflon tape on the banjo bolts for the turbo on the oil feed and water feed line? and on the top of the fuel filter? should i use teflon tape to better seal it or will it be okay to just screw it in tight with new o rings or washers or whatever they are?

thanks any help will be greatly apprecited!

Those new "o-rings" are called crush washers. I personally just buy new crush washers whenever putting something together, its not worth the pain if it leaks just because you were too cheap to buy some new crush washers. If its going to be back apart quickly then sure don't put new ones on, but its worth the little bit they cost to make sure something like turbo lines.

Also I would not use teflon.

I wouldn't recommend Teflon tape anywhere on a motor, small pieces of the tape can break off & end up in areas where they shouldn't be. If you need sealent use a teflon paste sealent or pipe dope.

But as far as banjo bolt/crush washers go, no don't use anything. The crush washer is the sealing surface, not the bolt threads. So adding any sealent to them is pointless. Like was said, crush washers are a one time use thing.

okay i was just wondering because i have heard so many opions about using it and not using it. i wasnt going to unless it would be a benefit but i thought i head something about oil and coolant eating the tape then i was like man if that gets in one of the passages it could be catastrophic and that would not be good. but some of the older guy teachers at my college said that they use teflon on everyhting and have had no problems but i remeber reading in a super street magazine that it could cause a big problem so i wasnt going to use it anyway but yea i will defintly use new cruzh washers.

thank you all for your help and quick responses!
