just recently found out that my crank is jacked so now i gotta get a new one. ive been tryin to do some research and im tryin to find out if i can just do a 6 bolt 2.3L stroker kit. i have a 7 bolt stock everthing 95 gsx. is this possible. i figured since replacing the crank would be about 600 anyway, why not just do a stroker kit. also i want to have the crank knife edged. it will be daily driven and see some track. i just want a pretty decently fast daily driver that also kicks a#s at the track. also will i need to change anything if i have a 7 bolt and i want to put a 6 bolt stroker in it, if so what. or will i be better off just doin a 7 bolt 2.3L stroker kit. and what are the reliability differences between the 6 and 7 bolt cranks

I have done a lot of reading on this lately. My 7 bolt in my 97 seems to be hurting maybe broken piston rings or piston from preliminary compression test results.

There are a few options..build a 7 bolt into a 2.3,buy a 7 bolt 2.4,find a 6 bolt 2.4,build a 6 bolt 2.3 and build a 6 bolt 2.0.They can all be made to work in any 1g or 2g car .its easier to use a 7 bolt in a 2g as everything pretty much just bolts right up.Simple swap.
But the spectre of crankwalk hangs over the 7 bolt engine so most people go with 6 bolt 2.0,.2.3 or 2.4.Think 6 bolt cranks are supposed to be stronger as well.

I decided after much reading to go with a 2.4 6 bolt.Bought the engine out of a 89 hyundai sonata and bought a 2.0 6 bolt out of a 91 awd turbo talon.
I can use the 1g head,1g intake for now,it had no tb but can use the 1g tb.I can't use anyting on the 2.4 but the block and crank. Its super low mileage like 20,000 original and the car was hit no engine damage or disaster so it should be minty.

Should not need crank turned or block even bored maybe.

A 2.3 7 bolt or 6 bolt reguires mabye a bit more machining to make it work .

Hoping my 2.4 works out good and might have it up and running in a couple of months.
Not sure if will have big turbo on it right away might be my t25 for a bit.Be pretty broke after this engine thing.

okay i know it takes a while sometimes for someone to reply to posts or what not, but now ive come up with another question while i wait. can i just keep my 7 bolt, get a new crank that has been knife edged and call it a day for now? and later ugrade my pistons and rods or what not?
