Ok so I'm looking to get new tires next week for my ix wheels (17x8 +35) and I'm stuck between 245-45-17 and 245-40-17. I had 245-40 on 17x7.5 wheels with no rubbing at all the so im pretty sure they wont rub on these wheels. The thing is the 245-45 are cheaper but I'm not sure if they'll rub. Anyone have experience with these sizes?.

I think you'll be better off with the 245/40's.

What kind of tires are you looking for? Maximum performance possible with a short life, or a good performing summer tire that will last a while... or just some performance all seasons?

I have 235/45/17 and i rub. Then again my rear suspension is most likely shot. It all depends on your suspension setup and what you plan to use your car for as well.

I'd do the 245/40 in a Kumho ecsta MX. They don't last real long with a 220 tread rating but the stick like glue for the money and can pass for autocross and even drag tires on a awd. If you want something that last get the sumitumo HTRZ-III. They are asemetrical and can be rotated from side to side and have good over all performance and tread life. I've got them in 265/35/18's on the back of my S-13 nissan.

I'm actually thinking of the potenza re01r's they're having a closeout sale on them at tirerack. The 245-40 aren't on their website but I emailed a sales rep and they still have them. I just need somethig that last me 10 to 15k and sticks good when ever I need them to. I live in southern Cali and we don't get much rain so I'm only looking for summer tires

ummdsmwhat 245/45/17 - yokohama s-drives
+1 I agree with ummdsmwhat. I have had Yokohama S- Drive tires for almost a year and they are great. I have them mounted on Evo 8 Rims.

But if you can get a good deal on tires of your choice Thats cool too. The price of the Yokohama S-Drive Tires has droped to almost Half of what I paid for them:banghead: BUt o'well it happens

^^^ yeah the s-drives were my pick until I found out about this sale, what size tires are you running on your 1g
