I was wondering about possible damage to the tranny when I do a couple of things

1. I have it in second, then I floor it and the tires break loose at high rpms(5grd)

2. I have the E break on and let the tires roast

Do these things cause tranny damage
Thanks :dsm: :talon: :laser:

Its really the wheel hop that kills the tranny/ diff. doing a burn out has never damaged mine. And when on 110 octane 4* of added timing and 22 psi, I smoke the shiz out of the tires on the FWD. as long as they dont hop (or you suddenly lose traction with the road), it shouldn't hurt her.

Now lets say you are crossing a road or turing off into a neighbor hood alot of streets have a slight bump/ dip where the 2 layers of asphault meet. If you spin the tires there and cause a sudden loss of traction, when they grab it could cause a MAJOR shockload in the drivetrain. Possibly damaging something. Its hard to say if it will break something or not till its too late, just try to avoid such cirumstances.

These are not the best burnouts but they do smoke a little. stock suspension, stock open diff, tranny with 120K miles never opened, 23" slicks @ 12 PSI, 1st gear burn out, MSD DIS 2 dual stage wired to a switch set @ 6500 (IE burn out rev limiter, I use DSM link for stutter box and rev limit).

FYI prothane motor mounts helped to eliminate most of the wheel hope I get unless the roads wet and cold. I am doing the full prothane suspension kit over the winter. As well as some shocks and springs.
