i just log some runs at the track this weekend and i cant get my timing to go past 22-23....once it hit 6000rpms it starts to drop to 18....knock was only 2 on pump gas....i checked the base timing and it is fine....

seems like you are either running out of fuel up top or going too rich.. 22-23* is great timing BUT it shoud not start to fall back off

Wrong.

Stock timing maps in the 1g ECU will have the timing drop 2-6 degrees after 6000 rpm.

When the Mitsubishi engineers were working on the 1g timing and fuel maps, they were given a choice. They could either do a good job and the proper work to have the maps work well and make sense, or they could import a bunch of goats into the stupid and let the goats write the maps by walking on a big keyboard while the Mitsu guys licked their nuts.

They chose the second option.

Luckily, the goats were fired for 2g's.

That said, the only way to deal with this is a chip with modified timing maps. If you have an EPROM ECU, PM me.
