ok, I've searched everywhere on this forum and cannot seem to find the same problem I am having.

This all started because the auto tensioner went out and the timing belt skipped 1-2 teeth. The car didn't run all that good, but was at the right idle and everything just when you did WOT it didn't want to "go" like it did when the timing was correct.

So I replaced the auto tensioner with a new one from a import parts store in my area (huber heights, OHIO), and slapped it in. To make sure everything was right I turned the cams to TDC and also lined up the bottom crank marks, now on the crank sproket I noticed a little circle indent, then on the motor there was like an arrow so I assumed it was aligned properly. I also lined up the marks on the oil pump sproket. I put everything back together and started it up, It sounded like a backfire but it was internal, like it was combusting in the engine. So I took it apart and re-did the timing. This time when I started it, it got to a point and wouldn't crank over, I tried to manually turn the crank but it was like stuck at a point, when I would turn it backwards, it would go 180degrees and feel like it was hitting the same thing. I am not sure if it is because the timing is off or what it is.

anyone have any suggestions??

check out these pictures and tell me if i'm lining the timing marks up right...

is this the right timing mark??

here's a pic of the cam's...

here's another timing mark i tried, which resulted the same (will spin a little bit and just get stuck and won't go any farther, but you can bring it back about 180degrees) (i made that black mark on there to represent the notch in the plate because the picture didn't come out good)

on both of the marks it did the same thing, also, the oil pump sproket was lined up right and the cams were, is there something I am doing wrong? belt is tight, just when I try to manually turn the crank it hit something and won't go any farther, but you can turn it back 180degrees and it does it again.

-thanks...

Sorry but I think your SOL :notgood: It looks like your timing is 90* off. your hitting your valve probably. The problem is on your crank. Check this site out and good luck :thumb:
