Hey guys, I just did a complete rebuild with all new forged internals new Crane 0016 cams and AEM adjustable cam gears. My issue's are:

1. I installed new pistons and did a complete head rebuild as well. I already put the head on and the engine was not at TDC because then i wouldn't have been able to install the cams correctly. I already installed the cam gears and I am putting the crank sprocket on. Even if i line up the crank sprocket timing mark with the oil pump timing mark, the engine will still not be in TDC. What can I do to get the engine in TDC before trying to do the timing belt.

2. When I got the head from the machine shop, everything was installed. the issue here is the exhaust cam dowel was facing up and the intake cam dowel was facing down, but while browsing through this forum, it says that both dowels should be up. what is it?

Timing: If the mark on the sprocket matches with the arrow on the pump housing and you are not at TDC, then you forgot to install the key that goes in the slot on the crank snout. The Timing sprocket should only be able to be installed with the proper orientation. Find the missing key, pull the sprocket and reinstall it with the key in.

Cam dowels: Both up is for the 4g63. One up, one down is for the 420a.
