Ok my timing started making a nice chattering sound this mourning so i pulled it into my shop and look at it and its got like 3/4 of an inch of play in it and started to walk towards the driver side fender any ideas of what has caused this? feedback is greatly appreciated Thanks Joe:talon:  almost forgot i have the 4g63 turbo motor in there LOL

had the same problem when i fist tuned my car on after doing a six bolt swap, i didn't tighten down the tensioner pulley enough and it worked the bolt out a little bit and started walking, if its got as much slack as you say the little piston mechanism that puts pressure on the arm of the tensioner could have either failed or the pulley may have backed off the bolt enough to slip off that little piston. Either way the only way to tell is to pull all your accessory pulleys off and take of the timing belt cover, you'll need to take off the engine mount to do that as well.

Good luck

by the way don't drive that thing until you get that fixed. you don't wanna risk breaking that belt its just not worth it. and if you haven't done it in a while or you don't know when it was last done replace that belt while your down their.

Btw, if it is your hydraulic tensioner....be sure to get one for the 6 bolt motor (according to your car...91 Talon?). I don't know the part number off the top of my head, but the casting number will be 533. Good luck buddy.
