Sometimes it takes 6 full turns (to TDC) before all of the marks are lined up again. :thumb:

thats what i needed to know...thanks

also how do i know if its tight enough..i used a point to push the tension arm tighter..is that a bad idea? i know thats ###### not the correct way..

your supposed to use a tensioner tool, or you can make one using the battery hold down bolt.

A word of warning.... proper belt tension is critical....

Couldn't have said it better myself. Back when I first got my car, I had a shop rebuild my head and do the timing belt for me, which was a bad idea because they decided not to adjust the tensioner pulley to the correct tension. They had it way too loose. $1700 down the drain and I had jumped timing and bent valves. So I did everything myself this time, the right way.

Do it once, do it right.
