ok so i'm replacing my timing components and i am having trouble getting the bolts out of the mount bracket. I AM NOT GOING TO TAKE THE MOTOR OUT.
i searched around and understand that you can get these bolts out by jacking up the motor by the oil pan. I just have a few questions before i go and do this,
1. that seems very high, does anything need to be removed before doing that?
2. Do i have to loosen the other mounts to keep them from bending?
3. I dont think the exhaust will want to go up that high without getting disconnected.

^Has some good info on getting that bracket out. It's a pain in the ass but if you work it just right, it will come out. Be careful that you don't dent the oil pan when using a jack on the motor. Use a decent size block of wood in between the jack and motor.

alright, thats real nice, but all it does is restate what i already know in further detail.
It doesnt answer any of my questions.

It can be done loosen what you need to, pull of mount, then you can see everything, pull whatever is in the way out of the way. What question didnt he answer, what details are you asking? IT CAN BE DONE

I got the manual and started wrenching, many ages ago. Get a jack, and a wood block to support the oil pan.

This is how I got mine to come out.

1.) Remove the intake from the engine, if you dont it will hit the battery and washer fluid bottle and stop the engine from lifting up.

2.) Place large size piece of wood under oil pan and jack up the engine as far as it will go. (you may want to remove the front engine mount from the crossmember to avoid tearing the bushing.)

3.) Stand over engine bay in an uncomfortable position for 30 - 40 min and fiddle with the mount until it comes out, when it does you will most likey say something like, "oh shit I got it" as you stand there in amazement.

Basically you have to wiggle the mount just the right way to get it to come out. Oh, and wait to you have to put the mount back, its even more of a pain. Hopefully this was helpfull to you and good luck. Be patient and try not to get too angry, if you do just take a break and then come back to it, it will come out.

I usually unbolt the transmission mount so that the driver side will come up higher and lift it up enough to get the bolts out.

Thankyou!
you actually answered everything for me
Now the problem is that i only have like 1.5 hours to remove the mount bracket, chnage everything and put it back on. I have to be able to push the car out of the shop and into a space at the end of class.

we're pulling the motor out. I cant afford any more delays. i prob have bent valves anyway
