A while back, i was driving and my check engine light came on, after a while i started hearing this noise and got home quick. I started the car and the noise was loud and sounded like grinding almost and then the car just shut off. I was told my timing belt was done. Im not sure if it snapped or broke, im about to get it worked on. The car ran fine when i was hurrying to get it home.

Is there a chance that I bent some valves even though it was driving fine when i was rushing it home??? if so is the engine done???

If it was timing belt it most likly jumped teeth (snaped I dont think it will run). Im not sure if the NT car are interfearance motors since it had a crysler motor. What did the noise sound like?

it sounded more like a garggle or like a grinding. I tried to go get a compression check and drove it, it drove fine like it usually is power and everything but i got half way there and it just shut off.

First, remove your upper timing cover. The belt sounds crazy when it rubs on the timing cover(s). Look to see if there are any scars or marks on the inside of the upper cover. If not, I would turn the motor over by hand (1/2" drive w/ extension). If you feel any resistance, stop turning immediately. Next, do a compression test. If any of your valves are bent, the test will show it. Also, pull your CEL code to determine what caused it to turn on.

There are numerous things to do to diagnose, but I would start the car as little as possible, just to be on the safe side.

yes your timing could have jumped time and then it probably went into limp home mode because its normal readings were all out of wack so i would suggest taking that top cover off to check and see if it has rubbing on anything.

thanks guys for the help, I live in philly and its like 20 degrees outside so I wont be doing any work on it myself. Im gonna get it to a shop that ive been going to for years and see what they say. Hopefully they can just replace the water pump, timing belt etc. And hopefully my valves arent bent and theres no engine damage
