timing a tooth off, fix?

I used zip ties and got it on the money. If its wrong I would start over. Your timing isn't something you wanna try to cut corners on and not be 100%. Do it right the first time. I followed vfaq and also used a Chilton for reference.

No that's what your timing marks are for. He is right too your pins need to be at 12 o'clock not 6 oclock. Balancing shafts eliminated? Grenade pin still in tensioner? You have the special tools for this or are you winging it?

If timing has jumped and your a tooth off or more than the valves are bent, no way around it. You may get lucky if its only 1 tooth and you didn't crank the hell out of the motor! You may be able to reset timing and rotate motor a few times and see if its noisy. But most likely your tensioner failed and its time for a complete timing job!! Including timing belt, tensioner bearings, hydrolic tensioner, seals, water pump, and any thing else that may need attention. You should by the jay racing timing belt tool kit, makes the timing job a breeze and helps you get it right the first time!
