Well after Having some fun with the GT42/2.4 and sheering off gears every 6 months I decided to go auto. I picked up a really nice donar car running auto that just needed a hood. Drove it to the shop and started tearing it apart.

Motor out, sold to a friend. 100k ran perfect!

Time to take the old friend apart...it was very hard. Ive had this car for 8 years.

Into the New whip

The new body is really nice in and out, and it just changes things up a bit. I hope to get the car into the 9s on straight 93 pump. Im sure it will.

Great find. and the radiator support is solid like new. Those are to hard come by in ohio.

jjrocks5 thats my goal. When it was 5spd I went 10.95@134 on 25psi on 93 with a 1.89 60 foot on crappy tires, never got a retry on the Hoosiers. On 30 it made 621 still on 93 on 25 it made 561. I found some little issues (boost leak, i blew a endtank open on the intercooler because of a leak etc.) Im willing to bet it will make 650+.

supravw its a "ON-GREEN" performance manifold. Its a copy of the old school HKS ones, but made with higher quality metal. Its a heavy bi***, but I like not worrying about cracking. Its full divided equal length t4, and has threaded holes for a t3 so if I ever wanted to switch I could do so without changing the manifold.

dalesmitsu yeah it was definatly a good find. 100k on the body, and never molested.

NICE! Auto is the way to go, youll hit your shift everytime, much more constant and reliable. I recmoned getting a custon triptronic set up, i have one from EagleTim. The Roadsurge shift box is amazing!

The shift boxes are junk compared to a chipped TCU. Contact Dave at www.foreignmuscle.com He chipped mine, and tuned the shift points. Drives like stock under normal conditions, but is a complete animal at wot. Give him a shout, and he'll hook you up. You're gonna love this auto setup.

I won't be running neather of them. It will manually shifted and at 100% line pressure all the time.

I got the fuel lines mounted up and ready. Just gotta get the aem wired up, and all the gauges/trans wired for manual shifting then front axles and exhaust and it will be ready to go

You gonna throw the old motor out the green one into the white one? Best of both worlds.

The Roadsurge box shifts at 100% line pressure, and technically its manual. You push the button for when you want to shift.

And you can turn it on and off, so if you dont want to drive with it you flip a switch and it uses the regular tcu.

Dont bash the product, its not bad.

juanpac0--I sold the motor out of the green one, everything out of the white laser is going into the green car. If the rolling chassis dont sell then eventually ill be putting it back together. My daily driver is a 05 evo mr, but I wont sell out from dsms .

bluefire16---I read about and seen the shiftbox, but it was hard enough to go to automatic because I like shifting, point being why Ill have a hurst pro-matic shifter so I can "sequentially" shift to get alittle of the fun felling back. I dont wanna feel like Im on a elevator .

Since this will most likely be pure drag it makes sense. For my, since mine is mainly DD with the track occasionally, its perfect.

my last build was an automatic, and I just picked up another one. Talk to the guys over at IPT, they did a great job on my auto (level 10 valvebody, and oil pump).
Couple things I ran into was I broke the front mount off the cast housing on the tranny. The tq snapped it right off the bellhousing. I also had a problem with my first two tranny's because of some shifting bugs, it would run up hard to redline, but then would stall on shifting. If you have any questions let me know, but I think you will like your auto!

dsm8883----the trans is built. IPT rebuild kit, translab shift kit, welded diff. A local shop www.j&eperformance.com did it. The converter was restalled by Pats converters which is another local shop that also does some killer builds/converters.

How much was your build at J&E, or better question how much do you have into the auto so far? I hope you post some video's of a launch and pull.

It was about 1500 ish.

I definably will. Theres videos of it when it was 5spd on streetfire under "darkkiller" user name.

Im hoping with alittle screwing around with the timing maps, and the cams gears I can work out the spool up off the bottle, but i am sure eventually I will be putting a shot on the car.

Good stuff man! I just finished helping with an Auto swap in my buddies laser.

Too bad his motor hydrolocked and bent a rod when he turned it over for the first time after the swap.

im surprised to see you have the factory throttle body. what type turbo is that?

Stock throttle body has made over 800hp on some cars, Im not really worried about it. Its a gt4294
