Ticking Noise**Could this be the lifters?**

That sounds awfully loud to be lifter tick. Sounds more like rod knock to me.

agreed - sounds more serious than lifters - might want to drop the oil pan and look for metal

It hasn't been driven anywhere. I got it real cheap. It may be a good idea for me to do a rebuild.

defiantely a spun rod bearring. make sur e if you replace it, that you pull the motor and have the crank turned, and maybe even freshen up the cylinder walls with some honing and new rings. whit, even get the block resurfaced.

ya but things happen bud. my idiot friend had a 93 talon turbo and he bought it with a spun rod bearring but thought it was just lifters. so he got new lifters. eventually he went with the fact that i told him it was ro0d bearrings and decided to replace them. BUT, he just dropped the oilpan, put the new bearrings in, and called it good. he has done this about 5 times. i would hate to see what his crank looks like LOL

Well I got the motor out and taken apart. You wouldn't believe what I found. No. 3 piston had no rod bearings:ohdamn: I dont know if they deteriorated or not. I didn't find any remnants in the oil. There was actually two problems. the one rod with no bearings, and another rod with the bearing bearly in there. I've dropped the motor and head off to my machine shop. You can see in the pictures as well where the crank shows some wear where there was no bearings. Waiting to see what the damage is.

Guess it's definitely not lifter tick.
Good luck with the buildup, what are your plans?
