i have only ran my car a few times since my rebuild. This time i started the car and let it idle for about 10 min. After 10 min it sounded like i start to get a lifter tick nd the car starts to idle bad. I took off the oil cap and there is most deffinetly oil in the head. Would a lifter tick affect my idle? I am a little worred here. This is about my 10th time starting it since my rebuild. The last 2 times it has done this. I have 272 bc cams and im not sure if this may be affecting something.

I had my egr valve ticking set off the knock sensor and retarding my timing. So I'm sure it's possible for lifters to do it..

There are probably other things it could be to but someone else will have to come in on that.

wow i honestly didnt think of that. It is actually dropping the idle alot. It normally idles around 1100 and is dropping to 700. What is weird is that the ticking doesnt start until the car is warm. And this only happens sometimes not everytime. Has anyone heard of such a thing? Now i know that most likely the ecu may be pulling timing because of the tick.

Since you have a 6 bolt bottom end did you also open up the headstud holes to 12mm in the head? The 7bolt head has 11mm stud holes. Since the oil travels through a headstud hole, the galley is restricted because of the 12mm headstud.

Yes i did. I am just not sure if it is an oiling problem or if it may be a bad lifter. The ticking gets loud sometimes and sometimes its not even there. I am going to take the valve cover off tommorrow and hopefully find a weak lifter and it is an easy fix. Otherwise i am stumped. I am not too sure if the oil pressure could be getting too low when the car is warm.

You could try pinpointing a lifter or get a set of revised lifters first like you said and then go from there.

i will try to clean the lifters tommorrow and see if it makes a difference. The just seems to be no cases of it starting to tick when the car is warm but not when it is cold.

Took the valve cover off today. One of the lifters isnt pumping at all and is flat. I took it off and cleaned it out and put it back in. It didnt solve the issue so i decided to purchase the 3g revised lifters on ebay. I will update when i get them and install them. Pray that this is the issue.
