Strange thing happened yesterday, I did an oil change on my car and noticed that the rubber cap I had on the boost source nipple on my intercooler pipe had a split in it. Even with the split it was boosting 20psi no problem, so I put a new cap on it and now I cant get past 5psi. I have the Tial mvs 38mm with o2 housing from punishment with a 17psi spring. I tried hooking up just from compressor to the wastegate bypassing my mbc and boost only builds to about 3psi...I've done boost leak test, replace all the hoses incase one was split but still nothing, I'm stumped...possible that a brand new wastegate is stuck open?? any way of checking without having to pull the damn thing off?
 
If it's the tial mvs it's just a v-band. It shouldn't be very hard to remove. I would just take it off and make sure it's not stuck open or the diaphram isn't broken. You installed the valve seat when you installed the wastegate right? I'm guessing you did since you were boosting 20psi earlier. It's a common problem people have. They forget to install the valve spring and the car can't build and boost past a few psi.

it was already assembled when it arrived from punishment, and Chrispy It wasn't deleted, I have this posted in the turbo system tech section as well, I threw one up in the newb forum because I needed a quick reply as I have to be on the road tomorrow, but looks like I wont be taking the eclipse as the problem has not yet been resolved and I wont have time to scrape my hands trying to undo the v-band clamps to look at it. (it is extremely tight for room, I even had to bash in the fan a little bit to make it fit, and the gate hits the altenator as well, so maybe my o2 housing was made slightly off??)
 
Turned out to be wastegate springs heating up and staying in their compressed state basically make them "super springy" and have no resistance at, so the valve was opening at 1 psi of pressure, Puninshment has since sent me new springs and I am boosting fine again-thanx for all those who replied-Gary
