I got this https://www.extremepsi.com/store/product.php?productid=23219&cat=390&page=1 Tial bov QR 11 psi spring a while back. Worked fine on my stock 2g eclipse then I took it off and put the stock one back on because the Tial kept hitting the hood, which was 2-3 years ago. I now decide to install the Tial bov QR back onto the stock 2g eclipse with the hood lifted to not hit but now the bov is making a Fluttering sound, Can sometimes barely hear it unless im over 6k rpm. I'm not sure why the sudden problem? No more beautiful loud SWOOSH... its like a quiet flutter Any advice? Thanks!

How "stock" is it? Has anyhting changed from 1 setup to the current?

Some flutter is normal if your boost level is not at some crazy level.

This car is bone stock, only thing aftermarket is the bov. I never had flutter before. Also it used to be loud now its really quiet and struggles to push air out the bov. Unfortunately I do not have a boost gauge yet. When I had the factory bov on everything was working just fine.

Without knowing how much vacuum (inHg) you're pulling via a boost gauge then how did you know what spring to purchase?

Remove your recirc hose from the bov to the intake, cap the recirc opening on the intake so nothing can drop into it, then start your car. Grab a flash light and look into the bov during idle and see what the piston is doing, if it's partially open then you don't have a stiff enough spring.

A buddy of mine told me which spring to get he said he did the research. And it worked when we first put it on, Had it on for awhile but it was rubbing on the hood so I took it off and installed the stock one back on. I may need a 7 psi spring?

...you may need a boost gauge that also shows vacuum before you start a bov spring collection.

All you need is a simple mechanical boost gauge, nothing fancy, which will do more than just tell you what spring to run. It will also show you if you're running the proper amount of boost for your setup and if you have an vacuum leaks etc. Your "flutter" could be one thing or multiple things but not having the proper tools to troubleshoot the issue means you're just going to keep throwing parts at it until you either get lucky and fix it OR give up and just live with the flutter.
  • You may have a vacuum leak, to know for certain you'll need to perform a boost leak test (BLT).
  • You may have too small of a line going to the bov, the Tial bov tech manual requires at least 1/4" I.D. hose.
  • You may have your boost/vacuum source hose installed in the wrong location, it should be directly off your intake manifold (IM) with nothing tee'd into it.
  • You may have the wrong spring. I ordered my Tial bov with a plain (silver) spring based off the amount of vacuum my car pulled at idle, when I installed it my bov would open so much I could finger my upper intercooler pipe (UICP). I pulled apart my bov just to check and guess what? They sent me one with a black spring installed even though I ordered it w/ a silver one. Just because you ordered one with the spring your friend recommended doesn't mean that's what you have, it would be worth pulling apart and doing a quick sanity check too. Here's my blog about it --> Tial 50mm Incorrect Spring A quick email to their customer service dept. and they sent me a new one free of charge.
  • It could be a combination of the things I mentioned, but checking all of them wouldn't hurt and none of them cost you any money other than picking up a boost gauge.
Regardless of what's causing the issue and whether you fix it or not you should at least have a mechanical boost gauge. A decent -30inHg/30psi mechanical will run $40-$70 depending on brand and appearance if you want it to match interior gauges, etc.

Going to try everything I can tomorrow you have listed and let you know the results. Does anyone know what the stock vacuum is?

Boost Gauge is on order, But found the leak it was the BoV gasket. Replaced the gasket now the BoV semi works. Does a very light flutter in the beginning then the loud Swoosh. I have it vented to atmosphere to test it because when I recirc. I can barely hear it.
