Thump on Acceleration

I have a concern with my 98 eclipse. When I eccelerate I hear and feel a thump near the firewall on both sides of the car. I dont know what it could be and it's driving me nuts.

could be a lot of things. Diagnosing it over the internet with that description is like you trying to guess what color i'm thinking of. I would try to take it to a local mechanic and see what they find. Could be anything from suspension to a motor mount.

Sounds like your roll stops. Front and rear motor mounts. Just open the hoid and check them out. If they are cracked or ripped have then replaced.

Almost certain to be a motor mount. Had the same problem on my 3G back in the day. The rubber was destroyed and the bolt and sleeve were just floating around in the roll stop.

Rear roll stop is most common may look fine but if you haven't changed them you ###### should.

Orange. . Sounds like a good place to start would be those motor mounts.

+1 on possible motor mounts. I'd check the rear to start

I would also check all suspension, such as lower control arms and what not.

I had clunking issues caused by my front roll stop. Common problem on worn out stock parts..
