Thump/bang

Every time I let the clutch out to accelerate, I get a banging noise from the drive train. When I decelerate, I get the same noise. I think its the rear. Any input?

sure its not a bad lateral mount??? that can cause a thunking too depending on how shot they are.

there are four motor mounts on our cars. one on top of the tranny and one in front of the motor. the other two are bolted to the tranny. the lateral mount on the front of the car bolts to the crossmember and then to the tranny and the one in the rear bolts to the tranny and then the engine cradle/k member or whatever you want to call it .

Ok. I get it now.

Is the typical driveshaft thump continuous? Because if it is the driveshaft, it only happens ONCE when I let the clutch out or let off the gas.

It will happen when you let the clutch out, or shift quickly, or let off the gas, or sometimes when you get on the throttle a bit. It's not continuous. It's very easy to check, if you jack up the car and wiggle the driveshaft you'll be able to tell if the bearing is damaged.

I have the same problem and I have had my driveshaft rebuilt and it still does it. Could it be the spider gears?
