thrust bearing ON A 6 BOLT

Just a little about my build. I have a 95 gst with a 6 bolt swap, wisco pistons,eagle rods,kelford 280 cams, 1mm over size valves, ported head,Precision Turbo 6262.

Now the problem. I installed a clutch masters 725 series twin disk clutch, and i cant keep a thrust bearing in the motor!! Has anyone else had this problem?

How much wear is there on the thrust face of the crank? If that is damaged, then there is no way to keep the thrust bearing.
 
Is the thrust bearing secured properly? It won't be able to move with the crank and main caps in place... are you using bolts to keep it all together?

And it shouldn't try to leave all the time unless you hurt it feelings, you didn't call it anything mean riiiiight?
 
The motor is fresh from the machine shop, i checked the end play on the engine stand and it was at 3 thousand clearance.

The bottom end has ARP main studs
 
Checking the end play is good, but will not let you know the condition of the surface of the thrust face of the crank.

A new thrust bearing will mask the the true issue.
 
The twin-disc clutches I've seen had lighter pedal pressure than even an ACT2600. I don't see how it could be the fault of the clutch- I agree that something else is wrong with the block or the alignment of the thrust bearing.
 
Sound like crappy machine work and failure to inspect the thrust surfaces. Get a new crank or have this one turn by a shop that know what they are doing.
 
Thanks for the reply, the motor is coming out this weekend, and back to the machine shop.
I total agree with the thrust alignment, The block was line honed and the crank was supposed to be checked, and the rotating assembly balanced. I believe the machine shop over looked something.
I will post the findings when i get them.
