Ok so heres the story....i been havin some real problems with my car recently and i have been doing nothin but dumpin repair money into it and its only 85k miles.....i finally found out that some of the problems i was havin was because the altenator was going bad.....I took my car in after it had died on the side of the road to have it fixed because i have a warntee on the car. They fixed it and it was runnin fine for 3 days....then this past saturday i was drivin it and all of a sudden i have like a HUGE grinding noise and lose power stearing and the whole 9 yrds.....anyways it looks like the altenator wheel just like snapped off and was totally losse....so it threw the belt off that powers the altenator....IS THIS SOMETHING I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ENGINE PROBLEMS? FOR EXAMPLE THROWN HEADS ECT... if someone could let me know so i can stop freakin that would be great...o and it also threw coolant all over the inside of engine bay....If someone can let me know that would be great...THANXS A MILLION

I was not being a dick about anything. I gave you an infraction because it's my job as a moderator, I helped you because that's what I enjoy doing, if anything I was being professional about it. I will let your last comment go but please read the following links, specifically the part about publically confronting a moderator after recieving a warning, before your next reply.

They were all trying to help you out. If the water pump seizes it will most likely take the belt(s) with it. You should do as what the previous post said, take all the belts out and try moving the water pump pulley around. If it moves freely then move on to the next possibility if not then start looking at prices for one. That would be the first thing I would look into since you said there is coolant all over the engine bay.

Any accessory belt snapping in most cases will not cause substantial damage to your motor. So your head will be okay.

Lastly, I've been a member of this forum for about 2 years now and for the most part these guys give me the information I need. The rules are pretty logical. I don't like going to forums thinking I'll find an answer for something only to find an AIM conversation I have to decipher.

Best of luck.

no its rediculous everytime i go to post somethin on this site i get a warning from one of these jokers....thats one of the reasons y i cant stand comin her to ask for some help...i always have to have some big shot come in and ruin things.

Wow this guys good i get yet another one. Seriously tho can someone please help me out here. I just need to know if I would have messed up the engine at all if that belt came off?

Like I've already said, PM me if you have a problem with recieving warnings, one more time and you will have more than warnings to worry about.

As for your problem, I have already answered it, your crank pulley has most likely seperated, you're not the first person to have this problem. In fact, almost every DSMer will go through this soon or later, myself included.

When you decide to respect and comply with our forum rules, you can come back and ask the question again and I will be glad to help you further. ;)
