I'm doing a boost leak test for my car, i cant build pressure higher than 12 pounds but everytime i turned off my air compressor i could hear a leak, it was coming out of the throttle body. I sprayed soapy water and hoped it wasnt the actual plate seals that were leaking air out but the soapy water showed me that it was bubling around my elbow that connects to the throttle body.

My problem is that i thought if i open the plate, as if i was pushing the gas, the air being forced out before the plate would silence or their would be a sound change from the air rushing into the car because when i lift the throttle body cable the sound doesnt change.

What i dont get is that the throttle body seals were just replaced, i havent eve driven my car since the new paper seals i got from advance were installed. Do you think that i should spray some gasket sealer on the seal or use rtv gasket maker on the seal?

I just dont want to pull everything apart again, i just filled the lines up with coolant last night......

What pressure are you testing the system at? When you open the throttle body you should see a drop on your pressure gauge since you have increased the available volume for the air to fill. If the problem is the gasket for the elbow, then take five minutes and RTV it. Taking off your elbow should have nothing to do with your coolant...

its staying at a constant 12 but ill have to go in the car and check as soon as i put all this back together. I didnt want to have to take the throttle body off again just to replace the plates seals/o-ring. To do that i would have to remove the coolant lines off the throttle body.

I just pulled the throttle body away from the intake as much as i could and stuck a flat head in there to put some sealant on both gaskets, hopefully itll do the job.

If it is at the elbow, I would have left the TB alone. Taking off those lines should not cause any kind of drainage. Do it right the first time and you will not have to do it again...
