First off I don't know what to call the part I'm talking about, it's on the side of the throttle body away from the engine and it is where the accelerator cable attaches, it also has two springs on it. I will call it the throttle controller for now.

I've been trying to isolate a boost leak and I finally found it today, it's underneath the throttle controller, if I put my finger against the bottom of the springs the sound alters. It's a strong leak so I need to fix it.

I took the accelerator cable off, plus the end plates, the springs came off with the end plates (how hard is it to get them back on?) and I found exactly where the leak is coming from as indicated by the large red arrow in the following picture, what I need to know is how I can repair this leak, I'd hate to take the throttle body off since I just put new RTV on it, but I will.

and here is an overview picture of what I am talking about.

The parts you need are the throttle body shaft seals.

Usually you mark the springs with a line before you take them off to be sure you have the correct tension. Since you have them off allready you will have to wrap them around the shaft twice.

Here is a link to the seal replacement write up. The seals on a 90 are different than a 91-94 style, but the idea is the same.

man everyone is gonna get on here and say you need "such and such" o-rings. this is CRAP (sorry if that hurts anyones feelings).

i have rebuilt NUMERIOUS 1g turbo throttle bodies for myself and may others locally and i have always used some cheap o-rings i bought for plumbing. i just lube them up and throw them in...

go to www.plymouthlaser.com and look to see how to rebuild it. its very simple. i would agree to mark the spring tho if its your first time. i dont do it anymore but i rebuilt so many this way that i kinda got a feel for it now....

also my personal throttle body has just about 2 years on it now and its still not leaking boost. i just used some axle greese on the seals so they dont dry out.

good luck and i hope that helps

David,

Do you happen to know what size rings you purchase?

Thanks
