Ok so yesterday this has been starting. Only when my car is warm (i think because its idling high when cold) my car will die. It will die when i don't have my foot on the gas otherwise it rides fine. I have noticed that it seems as if my car has been dropping a little fast on gas but i just got the car so i really don't know. I put a voltage meter on the battery and its fine. Also i started the car with it on there and it went up higher so im guessing that the Alt. is fine as well. So im down to thinking it might be a gas problem. I checked my fuses they all looked fine and i got new spark plugs. It wont die if i have my foot on the gas though. Thanks for any help. 1991 eagle talon tsi awd :talon:

So your car just isnt idling properly? Just readjust the idle once its warmed up. And the gas gauges in these cars suck. I get 200 miles a tank, but when I fill up it only takes 10 gallons when these are 16 gallon tanks. So it feels like you are bad on gas but probably not. Fill your car up and clock your mileage, when it gets down to E fill it up and see how many gallons it takes and figure your MPG, itll probably be around 20. And adjust your idle and see if it fixes the problem, if the car runs well otherwise it sounds like an idle issue.

Can i adjust the idle without grounding the 2 thingies (for the BISS screw)

I went out there let it warm up and i turned on everything in the car that i could and it was swinging the RPM needle from 600-500 rpms and would start to sputter idk if that helps at all

No, sorry that doesnt help at all, I dont understand why you did that, if the ISC was working properly I would think it would keep the idle up fine, or the ISC is working and thats why your car isnt stalling like you said and its keeping it running. Yeah, you have to ground those two points, one being the timing adjustment connection on the firewall and second the number 10 pin under the dash by the fusebox, dont quote me on the #10 part though, look in the manual, unplug the ISC while doing this also. You can test the ISC if you want to see if it is in spec, its not hard to do either, you might want to do this because I have read they are lead to ECU failure when they go bad. Go by some alligator clips if you dont already have some to ground the 2 points, they sell them at walmart for like a $1.50 in the auto section, it comes with two 1 foot wires with clips already attached. Set your idle the right way, if you test the ISC and it comes out bad you can always unplug it for the time being and just set your idle right off the BISS without grounding anything until you decide what you want to do, if you do this you might want to set the idle at about 900 to compensate for running some accessories at idle. Whenever you set your idle anyway always make sure the car is completley warmed up and the cooling fan isnt running or any accessories.
