Thinking about a dsm questions

I was thinking about a dsm and i have a few questions.

How is insurance on the car i have tickets and an accident i would only want liability but i dont know if insurance counts this as a sports car or not since they are not all that fast from factory?

How much is a good car to get into the mid to low 12's looking at the tuning guide for stage 2 i would do all that but then when i went to look at cars it varies from 700 to 5000?

What should i look for when buying one?

Are there any specific problems i should look for?

Which year would be best for my goal?

Basically im looking to have fun on a budget which makes the dsm appealing since it can be modded for cheap im coming out of an f-body and i am very good with cars in general but most of my knowledge is geared towards american v8's any info you guys can give me would be appreciiated for now im just looking around the forums. cheapest route in my opinion would be a 1g AWD. Parts arent cheap but you can always find good deals on the 1g's if you look around. I know of someone wanting to sell a 1g AWD talon if your interested, although he is here in Virginia.

^ IT depends on what brand parts you buy, who does labor, etc.

^ One that isn't falling apart a rather common thing these days..

^ Have them do the basic mechanical checks. Have the crank thrust spec checked out.

Which year would be best for my goal?

^ Whichever year tickles your fancy.

when i said prices on car i meant stock not with the mods or would it be good to buy a modded car.

you can probably find a good 1g for 1500 to 2000, and if i were you i would buy a stck car, its much more fun and knowledgeable, to do all of the work yourself

Totally agree There's no better way to learn about your car until she's on top of you and you're scoping her out yourself

Thanx for the help as to which year i thought certain years were better than others like some were 2 4 or 6 bolt and than their were some with a better lsd than others i looked at these a while ago and forgot but i was pretty sure some years were better for modding than others.

Also how do these cars handle stock and then modded are there any lateral g numbers or slalom numbers.

the 6 and 7 bolts you are hearin about arent refering to the main caps as in a chevy v8 with 2 and 4 bolt mains, its referin to the # of bolts that hold the flywheel on. Correct me if im wrong. The 6 bolt which comes in the earlier models are the best to get.

4. Just make sure there are no boost leaks, although usually easy to fix, can harm overall performance. Make sure the compression is good.
