Think I fixed my Phantom knock pic!

Well after changing all my brake rotors and pads, I was still hearing a high pitch grinding noise.

I jumped under the car and found the driver side axle wiggled all over the place. The carrier for the axle was completly shot, all the bearings had fell out of it.

Picked up a used intermediate shaft off a member on here, and threw it in. Just took a test drive and it feels alot better. I havnt logged it yet, but i'll know for sure in the a.m. when i head into work.

I don't see how this can cause phantom knock. Unless you are talking about a knock noise and not detonation.

Generally that's what phantom knock is. A noise picked up by the knock sensor, that is not really detonation.
