thicker oil question temporary

Car puffs smoke pretty sure its the valve stem seals, and I have to pass emissions within the next month, Would i be able to temporarily put some thicker oil in just to pass emissions so it doesn't puff smoke during the idle test @ 2000 rpm?

Not going to necessary say just adding oil will make you pass, but I always run 20w50. If you do fail post pic off the sheet they give you we can tell you why you most likely failed. I always run emissions no cat, 20w50 and e85 I have always passed. zso you must have something needs looked at pretty decently if you dont pass emissions for being pretty much stock. A fresh oil change, new spark plugs and a nice hard run on the freeway right before you pull into emissions always does justice.

thanks for the reply, I didn't mean if i ran different oil it would make me pass emissions, I was wondering if thicker oil would help seat the worn valve stem seals so it didn't puff mad crazy while idling whiling waiting/ performing the emissions test.

edit: I am currently running 10w30, and it recently started puffing within the last 4 days or so.

My first sentance I said you can try to add some thicker weight oil but not saying that is going to be your answer for passing emissions. Depends on what the sheet shows when you get the results.
