today i was driving to school and went to pass some old lady so i dropped into 3rd and passed her, while do so, i heard a loud popping noise followed by a high pitched whirring noise which continued when i began to accelerate. I didnt think much of it until i had got to school and noticed the huge amount of thick white smoke coming out of my exhaust. i was like WTF....so i turned off my car, turned it back on ideling, and thick white smoke began to pour out of my exhaust again. I have oil pressure and my engine temp doesnt fluctuate and is in the safe range. my questions is WHAT IS CAUSING THIS THICK WHITE SMOKE TO POUR OUT OF MY EXHAUST!??!?!?!?

update: ive checked my oil level and its fine. But after runnign the engine for a minute smoke comes out of the oil cap hole and the dip stick hole...
Smoke or oil, either way you should look into it as a pre-caution, a blown turbo shouldn't do this.

i dont really know what a pcv is.... :) but the the breather spot on my valve cover is routed back into the intake, which is now i changed. i know FOR A FACT it was the turbo. oil wasnt shooting out of my dipstick or my oilcap, that never occured.
Yes, your turbo is blown. What oldman is saying is that excessive pressure in the crankcase can blow the seals on your turbo. There may be a different issue you are dealing with as well. The PCV valve screws in the passenger side of your valve cover toward the firewall and has a hose leading off to the intake. Does your dipstick pop out?

my dipstick has never popped out. all i was saying was when i took out the dipstick myself....i saw smoke coming out of the hole, and when i took the oilcap off, i saw smoke emitting from there. im almost sure i dont have excess crank pressure. it so ill know after i put my new turbo on.

the hard metal oil line that runs from my turbo to my oil filter housing...do they make replacments for it? because i want something a little easier to work with

i noticed a broken stud on the manifold, i read the tech article, but my drill bits dont make a dent in the stud  what kind of bit do i use?

cobalt bits. Be careful using extraction screw, I still have a broken extraction screw tip in my old head, impossible to drill through.

ddavisaf, take it easy. I think 99GSXAWDTURBO understand what's going on, I'm sure he will be watching the crankcase pressure very closely. I do however suggest that an intake leak test be performed before you put the new turbo to test, a leak test will tell you if pressure is leaking into crankcase. Oh, perform a compression test as well, both dry and wet. Good luck.
