Okay, So i come across this brand new fully built 2.3l stroker 7 bolt for a great price! It has roughly 80k on the block. Now the only reason i'm not jumping on this deal right off the bat is, the guy i'm getting it from said that when he had it put together they didnt bore it but just had it honed!?

Now would this be a problem as far as putting in standard size pistons on a block w/ 80k miles? I've had some guys telling me that it's fine, and some telling me that it will never hold up!! I know for a fact that the motor has been turned over but never started! I hope somebody can ease my mind here! Thanks Guy's!!

As long as clearances are correct, it should be no problem. With it being a 7 bolt and only 80k miles, there was probably no wear on the cylinder bores. The 7 bolt has pretty thin compression and scraper rings, both being low tension which generally causes no wear to the cylinder bores. Just about every 7 bolt block I have seen or pulled apart still had the crosshatch in the bores from the factory hone job.

Was the engine blueprinted when it was assembled? If so, see what was listed on the spec sheet for piston-to-wall clearances on all 4 cylinders.

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm not sure about the blueprints but i can find out what should the clearance be?

Depends on which pistons it has. Each manufacturer has it's own specs for their pistons. Paperwork for clearances specs should have been in the box with the pistons. Worst case scenario, you could call the manufacturers tech line and get the information.

6 bolt blocks are the same way and usually show little wear, the main concern is out of round.
