All right so heres the story. I was recently scammed on here by someone about a 7 bolt long block. But anyway im still in need of a 7 bolt long block for a rebuild. I might be picking up a long block which has bent valves. My question is how much am i looking to replace on a cylinder head with bent valves. I know valves valve guides etc. Would it be more productive to buy a used cylinder head? Im doing all the work myself.

With basic knowledge you can replace the valves and guides. If you are doing it yourself you will want to get it pressure tested and check for straightness but it would be worth it to me. Would be about the same cost as a used one in unknown condition.

if the guides are replaced the seats will have to be cut.
special tools are needed to change the guides....

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/341218-how-change-valve-guides-4g63t-head.html

also depending on how bad the valves hit the pistions, you may have to replace the pistons, due to the ring lands getting pinched and not allowing the rings to move freely.

Just shooting from the hip.... getting a bent valve head fixed will be appox $400 if it is done correctly

Valve job $160
R&R guides $4.00 each
surface $45.00
Pressure test $40.

Guides Parts $3.85 each
Valve seals $30 set
Valve $10 each

so depending on how many valves bent, will vary the price.
If a full set of valves are needed or wanted, I would order a set of Engnbldr Valves off ebay (+1mm are the same price)

good chace the springs are wore out and need replaced too.

here is some info to go over....

if you go with stock valves.. you may want to do this...

and an oil mod that you may want to do ...

I hope you find this helpfull

Edit, you must have posted as I was writing.

Good your in school for auto tech.

What equipment do you have access too?
Valve grinder? Seat and guide machine? surfacer? Pressure tester?
If so.. what kind? what brand?
some equipment is so out of date it should not even be used on alum heads.

im not 100% sure of all the those tools, but i know ill be able to do a 3 angle valve job. ill ask my teacher tomorrow

if your school is equiped with a stone seat grinder or a newway seat cutter set up... I would NOT do a valvejob on the head.

both of those set ups will cause "out of round" issues on the hard seats in the 4G63 head and you will not be able to control seat width and depth
