Thermal catback and downpipe?

I plan on getting a Thermal catback and I was also wanting to get some suggestions on a good downpipe that compliments the thermal.
So what are some downpipes you 2g awd guys are running?

remember the thermal catback is made to bolt up to the stock cat. I believe the piping tapers down to a 2.5 or smaller.

punishments got some great deals on SS downpipes. I think you need a cat with them. They also are 3 inches I think. You are going to find a lot of 3 inch downpipes.

I would get one that elimnates the cat all together, If your state doesnt require emissions testing. Just read descriptions and see which ones do.

Pipe is pipe so why spend $500 or so for a muffler and some pipe for only half of your exhaust system?

If you want a "Thermal" exhaust buy a Thermal muffler and weld it to either a cheaper exhaust system (eBay) or have a full exhaust fabbed up for about the same.

Almost any 3" downpipe will work. I run a Thermal with a HKS downpipe then into a 3" test pipe. If you can cat delete i would go that route, but i dont know what else you have on the car or if your state requires an emission test.

Thermal R - Best sounding exhaust for a 2G DSM in my book, but remember the cat is gonna change that.

Here it says its a true 3" and doesn't bolt up to the stock cat.

Perhaps they redesigned their exhaust? In the picture (may not be the same product they are selling) it still tapers down where it bolts to the cat converter.

road race enginering down pipe and cat is what im running with a thermal catback.... it does have a 2.5" section where it bolts to cat but just have a exhust shop cut it off and weld a 3in flange there instead

fyi RRE sent me a free 3" flange when i orderd the down pipe and full 3" cat

I don't see how a muffler shop exhaust is comparable to a good quality stainless mandrel bent pipe.

I agree RRE makes are really nice down pipe, i would go with that one

So if I get the RRE downpipe and the high flow cat would I be able to pass emissions, and what are the differences in sound between the high flow cat, and a test pipe.

Take the cat out and find a good hook up for them to pass you or do it now then worry about the pipes lalter

The Punishment Racing DP is a true 3" and does delete the cat. (Also come with gasket and nuts/bolts)
Very well made and I do plan on buying 1 for my AWD as I had 1 on my GST that worked Great!!!
Will also be doing a Thermal R&D catback or muffler if I can get just the muffler to save a little cash....

Thanks for the input I'll check out the PR downpipe, so can anyone tell me the differences between a cat delete/test pipe and a high flow cat sound wise.

Usually it is a deeper more throater sound without a Cat....
