I bought the Speed Factor Brake Package about a month ago. I got the fronts on but dint have time to do the back until today. Must I say, these things grab like hell. PLus they look incredible!!! In fact, I am so glad I put them on today. They saved my life earlier tonight. I was testing my car for the last night before I mod it and so I was going a little too fast, but pretty much no one was on the highway. Except for two goddamn cars. One decides to pull out doing 65 not 20 feet in front of me. I slam on my brakes and steer away, my nose dived almost to the floor and my abs was pumping but thos ethings slowed me so well from high speeds. I am so glad I got them and I recommend them to anyone. I can probably give em a better review if anyone wants it once springs starts up again and ill be autocrossing them. :thumb:

Btw they fit perfect and had no problems with them. If anyonee wants pictures of em right behind my stock gsx rims I can provide some. Lol im in a good mood, im still shaking from that incident.

i'm glad you like the kit. I also have it on my 97gsx. Marty's the man and he answered all my questions as to what i was looking for. Now i wish i had better tires cuz these brakes are too good for my stockers. :|

K, I havent painted the calipers or anything, but I will take pics as soon as its good weather.

I'm still wondering if you checked to see if you had the rotors on the correct sides of the car. In case you didn't understand what I wrote back then, it's not the slots that matter; it's the vanes in the center that matter. They must pump outwards.

ive yet to see a set from brembo with directional veins toby, not even in a picture..........however I can remember having a large debate on a nissan board a while back (nico boards) wich escalated into some body E-mailing brembo to find out if the slots were directional. Indeed they are. As per brembo's recomendation he has them on corectly. The guy wrote back saying the end of the slot to the out-most-side of the rotor should contact the pad first during forward rotation......

Rotors do not have veins.

Slotted rotors have slots cut into the faces. These are what you can see in a picture and some vendors say have them pump out, some say have them pump in, and some say have the fronts pump one way and the rears pump the other way. I prefer outward-pumping slots, since I'd rather have the brake dust on the inside of the wheel where it is easier to clean away (as well as judge whether the two fronts are doing equal amount of work without taking the wheel off). Others might prefer the slots pumping in, to hide the brake dust. In any event, this isn't really a big deal.

Vented rotors have vanes between the two plates. These can be straight, in which case they don't care about direction of rotation. Other vented rotors have curved or angled vanes and these must be installed such that they pump air outwards.

I have no idea if you are confusing slots with vanes, so if this is not news to you, then treat this post as trying to help everyone use the correct labels. What made me think that this post was needed was the suggestion that you could see which way the vanes were angled or curved from looking at a picture. It would take a very well-composed photo to allow someone to see the design of the vanes.

hey toby, i'll pull a wheel off and take pics for you to see. I kno exactly what your saying about the vanes on a vented disc. Its actually two discs put together with vanes or maybe even slots if u want to call them inbetween them. This is something the early 2gawd cars had in the rear and then mitsu switched to an unvented disc. My 95awd has vented rear rotors, my 97 doesnt.

The vanes in stock rotors are non-directional. No picture is really needed. The question is about certain aftermarket rotors.

doesn't matter which way these are mounted:

To clarify, I was referring to the veins, not the slots. I have never seen any directionally veined rotors from brembo.
