Hey. Below Is the start of my new project. I just got my 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS and I want to plan out exactly what I am going to do to it. By the way, I bought it today for 3,200 62,000 miles, clutch is great nothing wrong in hard left turns, good idle, excellent exterior and interior under the hood was a little dusty but thats about it. Revs nice and decent. I already changed my timing belt, hoses, plugs, and the typical hoses. Plus oils. Yea, and , washed it. I love it! But I have alot of plans for it. This is all about ricing and you most "rice haters" probably shouldnt read this . Here is what I want to do. I listen to metal. I absolutly love classic rock and metal so in speakers Im not extremly intrested in BASS. But I do want bass. Should I just get 1 or 2 subs? I am going to tell you what i want and you tell me what I have to do and how much. I want to have a laptop inside the car. I dont know if you know or not but theres like a metal laptop stand/holder that connects to the center console, well I want to have the laptop sit on that, I mean I want it open and on while driving, but secure. Where do you buy them at? one that will fit on the GS's Console?? Anyways, After I have the laptop secured, I want it to do this. I have this program called limewire. You probably know of it, it is a file sharing network that you can download music from like any song like kazaa. But better. . Anyways I want to have limewire on the laptop with all of my 600 songs, and be able to click on a song on the laptop and hear it through my speakers. How would I go about that? I also want to be able to control the brightness or dullness of my neon underneath and which color and whether it flashes or is solid all from the laptop in driving stage. I also want internet. Be able to be online and driving at the same time, dont ask me why but just to have internet connection while far away from home. How in the world would you do that? Now, since I will have a laptop should I get hooked up with stand alone fuel management systems and SAFC's and all that crazy computer stuff IN the laptop or just leave the SAFC's and stuff by themselves. Any other opinions on the laptop or ideas welcomed. Is it illegal to have a laptop on in the car while driving? Any reccomended speakers, subs? Red and orange are the only legal neon colors in driving stage in cali, but at a show or far far away from cops i think it would be bad to change it to blue or green from the laptop or blue and green flashing or blue in front green in rear. . Anyway to change suspension levels from inside of car? Like an actual program that raises or lowers past the illegal limits just from inside the car? Electronic sunroof powerd by the laptop?? Any way to have neon under the hood, neon lights that I can turn on and off by the laptop, or neon along the feet borders inside the car blue or dark red I can turn on and off while driving? Can I adjust the treble and bass and volume levels of the speakers from the laptop? Install a cop radar in the laptop? Wow. Prices, Ideas, labor, and everything else for all that well thanked. Okay Can you say "paragraphs"!

I'm gonna help you out just cause I know no one else will, not to mention that this is the bolt on secition, and this site defiatenly doesn't have anything to do with neons unless your talking about the car that shares our 420a motor.

If you like rock music, 2 10" subs in a sealed enclosure should be the best.

Hip hop lovers will take the 12" systems with a vented enclosure.

As for your laptop stand, you'll probably have to have one made, or call the guy who did it the first fast and the furious movie.

For underglow, just pick up the 7 color streetglow LED's. They come with their own controller.

Honestly man, just get an ipod. I'm sure there is some kind of law with regards to driving with a big ass laptop screen while in motion.

As for controlling the engine management, I think you better leave that alone, until you can understand more about the inner workings of your car itself.

Update your profile. I remember reading your thread when you were deciding on which car to get... that was three days ago: you got a car, changed the timing belt, and all of the hoses, filters, and belts since then?! You work fast.


I agree with what Rand said about having your laptop control the various portions of your car - don't mess with it until you understand exactly how everything works.

Then wait until you can post in the appropriate forum to discuss this sort of thing. This is the bolt-on forum, where the subject matter is technical, having to do with improving or monitoring engine performance on your NT DSM. Unless you've modified the engine in your car with something other than Neon and colored plastic, then you really have no need of a stand alone. Furthermore, adjusting the ride height of your car "above illegal limits" from inside the car "powered by the laptop" is pretty lame too.

If you want a dumpy, low-boy speaker box with blinky lights and shit, sell this car for what you paid for it, maybe a couple hundred more for your efforts at maintenance, and pick up a minitruck or Cutlass.

Anything that doesn't contribute to the actual performance of the vehicle - acceleration, handling, stopping - is a waste of time and energy and it really bothers me to see this sort of thing being brought up in such poor fashion in a technical forum.
