How much cash? And what exactly does stage 4 mean, something from the factory or are you rating your mods? b/c I could say mine is a stage 52 because it has 52 staged mods :sneaky:
 
Im new to this site, but im used to most of the honda sites soo i kinda know how everything works.
Im looking to trade my crx for a 91 talon tsi that this guy has. it has alot done to it, but the engines not in right now. here are the mods he says he has-
(i might repeat myself, im new to the DSM stuff)

-the engine bay has fresh white paint.theres 2 dents in the roof that need to be fixed.it comes with a set of 17in motegis gun metal
-the botom end has been built with new bearings and rings
-acl performance bearings intalled
-130,000miles on it
-ok the bottum end is built with racing bearings and rings the crank was checked it was polished and balanced
-the head like i said is in the machine shop itll cost 169 to get out it was milled and preasure checked
-i have arp head studs new cometic multi layer head gasket
-new timing belt kit and tensioner
-all the brackets for under the hood are powdercoated near chrome
-fromt mount intercooler with powdercoated white lower piping chrome upper intercooler piping
-2g mas air flow sensor and intake tube
- greddy type s blow off valve.
-powdercoated near chrome brakets in the engine bay
-550cc injectors
-powdercoated intake manifold chrome,energy suspension motor mounts
-hid headlights (sealed beam)
-black leather interior
-guage pods for the a piliar and radio area and center vent
-greddy tubo timer and easy plug in harness
-custom made box with a 12" sub, and JL speakers all around
-new act clutch flywheel and pressure plate.

it has everything listed about only its not installed on the car yet. it had a 16G TURBO and chipped ECU but hes keeping it soo i would need to get a new one. the only problem with the car is i dont know for sure if everything works like he says since the engine it out of the car. DOES IT SOUND LIKE A GOOD TALON THOUGH?

oh yeah and isnt it a little weird to get a head pressure tested and slightly miled if supposedly everythings 100% perfect on the car?

LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF THIS CAR.. ALSO HOW MUCH WORK IS INVOLVED IN INSTALLING ALL THIS AND FINDING A NEW TURBO AND ECU AT A REASONABLE PRICE! thanks!!!!!!!

and it looks like its going to take you some time to get all that installed .

thanks man. yeah i forgot to put up that im trading my crx si for it and thats worth about $1500 right now as is.
 
save yourself the hassle and get a working order, ready to go dsm. especially since it's your first dsm... you don't want to be dropping an engine in your first time around. and i'm sure you definately won't want to pay someone to do it and have to spend even more money on it.

there are plenty of awd 1g's out there for sale... time to go shopping.
 
yeah i agree whith what they said but if you know your way around a car it shouldnt be a problem. i got my first dsm and it wasnt running the guy said id be lucky to have it run in 4 mounths. i had it running in about 3 hours in front of his house. and i knew nothing about dsm's if you do trade and you find that its to much for you to do part it out and get more then your 1500$ and get another dsm thats running.

I wouldn't do it. I'd keep the Rex. His car is done up pretty nicely, but your car was worth how much brand new? And how much did you put into mods? Now compare. Take into account depreciation of his car versus yours.

And I dont know what the hell a stage 4 WRX is. List your mods. His GSX is about at the end of its modding although I do not see anything as far as datalogging nor fuel pump and AFPR goes.


I'm partial to having 4 doors which is why my next car will have 4 doors too. :)

I agree with that post. some people on the forums obviously want to see other dsm'ers succeed at what they do. a poll leaves those on the site to assist with setting the price of their vehicle. to me my car is worth 20k but to the other people not inlove with my car yet it is only worth 6k. it allows the seller to see what other people would pay for the vehicle on first impression. there are always underlying issues though. other than that i agree with both DEFIANT and others
 
There's this older gentleman in town that is selling his totally stock white 95 gsx. The car has a clean carfax with 110K on the clock. I showed up before to look at the car. I was pleasantly surprised by the outside condition and paint. honestly i would give it a 9/10. Engine bay has just been detailed and is in really good shape. nice and clean. Interior is about a 7/10. The headliner has some flaws. The driver side seat has the typical wear and tear by the lumbar support.

Now here's the downside. I took the car for a spin. First gear turbo spools when it should. The turbo kick is lacking. The rest of the gear the turbo is quite unnoticeable. I'm thinking ok stock turbo, probably never been turbo timed so the turbo must be on it's last leg. On the other hand there many many boost leaks. Which I know they will exist. I have a spare 14b at home so that will be an easy fix. Turbo issue anyways. He also stated the AC does not work though he just refilled it l2 summers ago. I can careless for AC but it would be nice to have for the time being.

My only objective to this purchase is first off price. 7200 is kinda steep (in my mind) for a stock gsx w/ no AC and possible faulty turbo. What do you guys think? Is it worth the money for what it has and what it lacks? I've told myself that my next car i'll be more picky and not settle for less, but the current condition on this car is close to mint. I might head back there tomorrow to do a compression test if I do decide to pursue this car.
 
I bought my '97 with 49k on it in '02 for 11,500, so I don't think it's that bad. But, then again, it's a ten year old car, so it 7,200 does seem like a lot even without the problems it has. Jus depends if it's worth it to you.
 
That seems more in line with 97,98 prices. Espcially with no A/C and some other issues. I wouldn't pay it.
 
I wouldn't pay more than $5000. Private party value on KellyBluebook with your zip code (I used 53201) with no AC and excellent condition is $4195. Ofcourse, that doesn't really mean a lot when GSXs are in high demand.

yup agreed. I bought my 95 gsx last October for $5.4k. Totally stock, working+too cold AC, turbotimed(tho it was taken off), 95k miles, good compression. Engine bay, interior and paint was flawless but only the passenger's mirror's paint was kinda off thx to the heat - didn't really matter. Oh the exhaust was kinda rusted too but I don't care cause I didn't need it.

ps: if you're willing to let go 7.4k for his car i'll sell you mine for 7k LOL

I've got a 91 talon tsi, white, with about 152K. Car has some rust around
passenger side fenders, wheels are kinda rough (stock), and its an auto. The
engine itself has very good compression, although the car is missing currently
(I think its the idle air controller). Car is bone stock except for a 14b turbo
(larger than factory 13g). If you are interested let me know and I can post
pics. Thanks


think this car is worth it and reason for an auto is because only have my left arm but does anyone this this car is worth it and another question. The stock turbo on this was 13g??? and what's then idle air controller opinion and help would be greatly appreciated He's offering $2,000 maby less
 
Idle air controller is a very common problem and is a very easy and cheap fix. It is just a sensor on the throttle body. As for the 13g coming on it stock that is also true, it is a much smaller turbo than the 14b. Another thing is it will have different injectors in it that are smaller than the 5 speeds. They may also have smaller cams? Might want to search on that. As for if its a good deal or not, I would say look around or talk him down some on that price. Good luck! :thumb:
 
There is a kid who has a 96 gst with crankwalk for 2000$ is it a big mistake to even buy a car with crank walk. I dont know to much about crankwalk but tell me what you think.
