There is a kid who has a 96 gst with crankwalk for 2000$ is it a big mistake to even buy a car with crank walk. I dont know to much about crankwalk but tell me what you think.

Whats the condition of the car? Miles? Mods? You can easily do a 6 bolt swap for cheap and have a good car for under 3500 bucks. Its your call.

Theres 100000 miles on it and i doont know what is done to it i havent seen it but he says it has custom body work and paint job. So i figure he just threw on a body kit and got it painted. I have a 92 gsx with the motor out and i am currently rebuilding it and i am thinking i should just throw that motor in the gst . The thing is that i only have a 1000$ and my parents wont lend me the money and they are getting pissed at me cause my gsx has been sitting for awhile in my yard and now the car i was driving just died so now i have 2 cars just sitting around and they dont want three.

wow i can get a 98 eclipse gsx with a blown engine for 3000$. 65k 5 spd black leather mint not a scratch on it and it only had 1 owner. but i have 2 1gs sitting out side LOL and that makes 6 cars in my drive way. so theres no more room so im thinking about selling both 1g's and buying the 2g keeping the engine from my 90 tsi and droping it in the 2g. but im thinking theres alot of work in doing all this LOL so i prolly wont be doing it but damn wouldnt that be nice :thumb: it also has a brand new eb16g with 0 miles on it

Ya i have decided that i dont really want to do it anymore i was thinking it would be nice but i just want to get my car on the road.So it looks like i am keeping the gsx and putting my money into that.

My friend is looking to buy this car but is not sure how much he should be willing to spend.

My friend also says it has a cd changer and aftermarket rims, BOV and muffler and the asking price is $11,500 Canadian. He wants to know if this is too much.

Yea I know those mods don't add any value but I just wanted to include all the info. Btw which zip code would I use at kbb.com to get a value close to what it would be in Canada?

Well that translates to $9,468.69 America, so the price looks about average for GSX's nowadays. That's actually pretty low of a price for a 99 depending on what kind of tranny it has. I'd say if it's in good condition and you think it's worth it, then go for it.

Thanks for the info :thumb:

If everything checks out okay that's a deal.
A local dealer here was asking $13,000 for a 98 GSX w/ 90,000 miles and wouldn't budge the price

A transmission rebuild is $1,500 :boring:

Theres a 1993 eclipse gst that I'm looking at, it has 98000 and the belts were changed at 45k. It looks a little rough around the edges there is a tear in the drivers seat, the console were the radio goes was stolen so it will need a new piece in there also the air needs to be recharged. The spoiler needs to be painted and it burns about a quart of oil every 2000 to 2500 miles. He's asking 3500 for it what do think I should offer him or should I look else were, what could be the cause for the motor going through oil like that? Is it a major problem? Sorry for all the questions any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Are there any mods done to the car or is it stock? If it's stock, and this is just my personal opinion, I would not pay that much. Probably between 1000-1500 depending on what I think of the condition.

Just an after market boost and vac gauges and a k&n filter. I was thinking of offering him 2500 and have him recharge the air and change the fluids.

In the condition you describe, I wouldnt pay over $1200 for it. I would just hold out and find something else. Also, with it being a 93, it will have a 7 bolt. If you keep looking, you could find a 92 or earlier 6 bolt awd with 110-150k miles for around $2500.

he says he is sure he is forgetting alot. If he was confident about the car's condition he wouldn't forget anything. I can run down a very short list of EXACTLY whats up with my car.
Also, I dont like the idea of buying a car that someone else modified. No telling if he did any of the work right without an extensive inspection. Why not look for a stock car?

I think it seems too good to be true. but hey if it is all good then go out and get it :sneaky: <-- i just like this guy the most

ok guys im new to the fourm, i own a honda prelude (love the car :D ). anyways im posting you guys b/c i need some help on something. first off, i dont know anything about the eclipse. a friend of mine bought a 1995 eclipse from a friend for 4000$ a few months ago, and well now the headgasket blew on it so she is trying to get rid of the car. (she put water on the block and it warped/crack it (i believe)). she told me today the she was goingto take ti tto a junk yard and tha they would give her 300$ for it.. i told her that i would give her 500$ for it (it just had a new clutch put it in not even 2 weeks before it blew). thats the situation. i need to know what kind of motor it has in it (1995 eclipse NON turbo)? ( i have no clue (its not a honda :p )) and how much i can get the motor for? oh and of course do you gys think i should do it? (500$ for a car that doesnt run (i think its worth it, but who knows)). anyways please reply :). thank you

oh and my other question, i did a engine swap on my prelude (put a jdm h22a in it) and it was a direct bolt up to my car. what motor will directly bolt up for the eclipse and if i bought a jdm engine will it be just like i was putting in a US-SPEC motor?

- shane

is it a non turbo?? if so its the 420a engine, if not its the 4g63... now what warped/cracked?? the head or the block, and under what conditions did it do this, freezing, or overheating?? i personally have a 95 eclipse n/t, and got head issues also, so if its the head its not very hard to replace... block however, its somewhat harder and you can find them at j yards, but they go fairly quick... i think its might be worth buying if nothing else is wrong with it. id just line up an engine/head and price before i went through with it completely, but thats just me...

:dsm:

yeah she was driving up to see me and it over heated on her (not knowing the damage it would do she kept driving it) so i think she just messed up the head (where can i get a cheap 420a head on line? b/c im pretty sure it'll be hard as hell to find one in sac or someother place. (oh and it is hard to replace the head. and how much will it run me? (im guessing around 600)

umm im sure it'll work if the castings of both heads are 867 and its for the 420a engine like the ad says, good price for a rebuilt, its sounds like a deal, but don't quote me on that.

as for installation, you will probably need new head bolts, definately new gaskets, head, valve cover, exhaust, intake, EGR valve, and thermostat housing gaskets. its fairly easy provided you have some mechanic ability, should be mostly easy except for the timing part. considering that these engines are interference engines (pistons can contact valves if out of timing) you must be 100% sure that the engine is in mechanical timing before attemting to turn over the engine. that will be the hardest part most likely, just take your time and within a few trys you'll have it, triple check that timing tho or your head will be toast again and wiil have to be rebuilt.

it sounds like your on your way to be a DSM'er :thumb:

hope this helps
