I would look for Lower Miles than that.
Thats almost as much as my 91.

I would keep looking man, Good Luck

That seems high considering the mileage. What would concern me is whether the timing belt and balance shaft belt service have been done since the car's at 123K. I picked up my 98 GSX three months ago for $9200 with 58K miles on it. I agree, try to talk them down at least to $9500 and mention the whole t-belt service deal, or have them throw that in for the current asking price.

Good luck!

Amazing how used cars were only driven on highways.

Even more amazing that "highway miles" are supposed to be any easier on a car than other kinds.

Of course it's three grand too much. It's a goddamned dealer. But if you don't pay that much for it, the next guy will.

it's a lot. my 97 has only 106k on it and it has been driven cross countryadn all over the place on business trips vacations etc.

99s have teh revised block so don't worry about cwalk... worry instead about it needing rebuilding due to that amount of milage... whats the compression like? servicerecords history etcetc... It had better be extremely well documented from day one and fastidiously maintained (wiht full records) to be worth that $$$.

8.5 sounds fair 9 if the tbelt/water pump was jsut done.

Got my 98 GSX with 80k miles for 7k out the door from a dealer. Of course, my dad helped bargain a little. :sneaky:

10k for a GSX with over 120,000 miles is a ripoff.

I Got My 98 Gsx For 11,500 With Only 45,000 Miles On It. And It Was Stock And In Perfect Condition. So With The Mileage That 99 Has Id Say That Sounds Like Alot

Damn, you guys got some killer good deals. Every 97+ GSX I saw sold before I could even call on it, and I've never seen a M/T 97+GSX go for less than $10K around here, regardless of miles. The one I was really serious about buying was a '99 black GSX with full black leather and a 5spd. It had 90K on it and sold for $12,500 the day it was listed. I wanna go to the happy place where a 2GB GSX can be had for $8K.

I just happened to do well on mine since the car was a trade in and was pretty well modded. It had nasty driveability issues from bad plugs, crappy wires, boost leaks and a vented BOV, but the reason they sold it cheap to me was that they knew I was mature (37) and that I'd be back for major service items. Truth be told, I have an excellent dealership (O'Daniel Mitsu) and my mechanic has built a few 10 second blocks and feels really comfortable working on my car.

Then again, I bought well, but by the time I'm done with finishing touches (all that's left are wheels and a new SMIC) I'll have put more than 4K into it. Was it worth it? Hell yes!

Good luck in your search and don't get raked over the coals!

Arizona/ new mexico/ west texas...

see em for 95 as low as 5k frequently

my 90 has less miles on it that that(91k), and i got it for almost a fifth the price(2200)... stock, with no problems whatsoever...(engine wise, the intermediate on the windsheild wipers doesnt work, the ac doesnt work, exterior in bad condition...probably something else i cant think of...)

Well take the KBB value to him and talk him down from there. And tell him about crankwalk and all the other problems the 99 GSX's experience! :thumb:

i personaly dont think that is too hi for a car that cost over 30k years ago.
I mean come on it is a 99GSX -- factory black leather/black dash etc. If it looks
really nice - i think its worth it.

my 99 gst - black with tan leather was in mint condition when i bought it, had 42k miles and still was under extended warrenty and i got it for 10,200.

95 gsx $9100 , 79,000 miles. 75 year old man, only owner. all records. i think i got a good deal.

Hey, guys, I have a 1995 Talon TSi 5-spd right now and its just beginning to crankwalk. I have been looking to trade it in to a dealer for the last two weeks, but I can't find anything else good to get into for a decent price, so at this point, I'd like to try and sell it for whatever its worth. The car is in excellent condition, it only has 109,000 miles on it right now. A shop rebuilt it at 98,000 miles with pistons, rings, and some other stuff. The turbo has no shaft play and the transmission is excellent. I have been looking at other DSM's over the last few weeks, and mine is in excellent condition compared to many of them. Anyways, the car runs perfect right now, but the clutch is sticking about half way out after taking left corners. I took it to a shop and they told me the crank is moving 46 thousandths and that factory spec allows only 26 thousandths or something like that. I got an estimate for about $1800 to fix it, but I don't want to deal with that, so I am thinking someone might want to pick it up for a 6-bolt swap. The problem is, there aren't many DSMers around here, so I don't know what its worth. Does anyone know about what this car would be worth in the process of walking??

3 maybe 4 grand

Your joking right? His car is walking. Why would someone pay 3500 for a car that has a bad engine. Anyways, your car is worth probably around 1500-2000 bucks.
