if you like it go for it. but im sure you can find a turbo awd 5 speed for that price in just as good condition with a 6 bolt. when your buying a car dont rush it because you might end up with somthing you didnt want and your stuck with it.

It sounds ok, I would keep looking though. I bought my 95 tsi awd 5 spd for 2000 bucks with a dent ion the fender and a bad ball joint, and 101,000 miles which i fixed and i bought my 92 talon tsi awd auto, with 102,000 miles for 400 bucks with a bent rear control arm. body perfect interior perfect no radio though. Keep looking there are deals out there...

3 owners, completley stock, no wrecks, 127,000 miles.

new paint, recent "Valve Job" as the place selling it said, no oil in the exhaust, idles well, oil pressure seems low at idle, pulls real hard, decent tires, ad said new timing belt but guy i talked to said he doesn't know about that.

However the power windows dont work, and neitehr does the radio (radio was working but went out when i opened the glove box, it turns on and the hud shows information but the volume knob doesn't work  ).

They wanted $3,300. They said $2500 was too low but i said if they fixed the radio and the power mirrors I would pay $3000, yeah I know I suck at bargaining but whatever.

Is this a good deal for a low mileage, automatic fwd?

Don't know about your idea of low milage... but that's WAY too much for that car... looks good, but you can find 'em in the classifieds here cheaper with the radio and power windows and doors working.

thats definately overpriced, especially because if youre really into cars you WILL want a manual and will most likely want AWD once you start making power and getting too much wheelspin. you could easily find a AWD 5 speed for that price, plus thats a lot of miles man

You can't find htem for this price with low mileage in georgia, i payed $10,000+ for my 97 2 years ago, and I have yet to see an awd go for a cheap price here and in good condition.

I'm not getting it for a track car, just something to keep clean and feel proud about every once in a while.

If you have the cash in hand, I'd say check around more. Check the classifieds here, eBay.....where ever. Some of the big dealers around here will put the older trades that they don't want on their lot on eBay.

You don't want a FWD and when you are looking to sell it down the road the FWDs are much harder to sell.

Yeah i got the $ and everything together and decided not to at the last minute.

I found a 2000 dodge neon with 72,000 miles on it for $2400 going to go after that and just use it as a beater and save $ again, Buying a DSM as my only car is kinda silly. :|

my dsm is my only car, not silly at all :talon:

mod it and see how enjoyable that is...............I DARE YOU :p

when i had my 2g it was my only car, it's just that i've been thinking about it all day and i finally just decided to buy something other than a dsm for $4,000 or less and then save up and wait until I find a good awd that I can stick in the garage. My gst was fun, but I dont want to end up wanting awd down the road and being stuck with the car.

But that's for a '97, which at the time was 5-6 years old when you bought it... I paid 9500 for my 97 spyder 2 years ago... this car however is not a '97, and is at minimum 11 years old... Look in florida, there's a crapload of them out there, and it's not that much of a drive...

Hi everyone, this is my first post on this website. The first of many, I'm sure. I just bought a 1996 Mitsu Eclipse GST from California. It has 38 thousand miles on it. The (older) gentleman that owned it, bought it brand new off the dealer lot in November, 1995. He kept it in his garage except for occasional weekend drives. It's 5 speed, completely stock, leather, sunroof, all options, etc etc. The paint is nearly perfect, the tires are new, the wheels are like new, it's a basically new, ten-year old car.

On to the point of my post: How much would this car retail for? I have an idea, but I want some real DSMers giving me their input. How much is a reasonable price to pay for this car private party? I know what KBB would say, but I don't think it's accurate for older, low-mileage cars.

I'll tell you what I paid after I get some feedback.

Thanks in advance.
Jon

well...I bought my 99 GST in March of last year and I paid 9500 for it. The car was bone stock, 5 speed, and had 30.5k miles on it. It also had new tires and hell, I swear I could still smell the new car smell inside. Oh...and I bought it from a Subaru dealership too.

Ohh you guys are lucky!!! (if you didn't pay too much) :thumb:
but I will say 8000-9500. If it is as you described and with that really amount of milleage.

Welcome aboard!!! DSM is your new Home!

I have to say that "there is a lot to learn about DSM!" and one of them: "DSM is not cheap!"

:D

pacent, sounds like you got a sweet deal. i tried hard as anything to find a 98-99 turbo, but couldn't find anything with decent mileage and decent price. people want a premium for those cars.

anyways, i paid approx $8700 for this car. I wanted to pay about 8k, but i figured i wouldn't come across another deal like this.

thanks for the welcome titogs95.

Also, a dealership in NJ sold a 98 GST in August with 39k miles on it, 5 speed, stock for about $18k. I guess the price of these cars depends on where you live...

Thanks for the replies.
Jon

Well my buddy sold his 98 gst with 50k miles for 8400. It had a really scuffed up bumper and he put nt wheels on it too. So it's worth over 9 in my opinion.

Welcome to the world of Turbo DSM's and congrats on scoring a fair deal. I know you just got the car, but I would check with the previous owner as to whether he did the timing belt, balance shaft belt and water pump along with the idler and tensioner pulleys. I know you have low mileage, but our service schedule indicates 60K miles or 5 years and at 10 years, I'd be sure to check and insure that you don't damage your new investment.

Congrats and welcome!

My 96 GST with 60,100 mi cost $6k

which was great until I found out about the low speed accident, poorly replaced parts, mouse in the airfilter.........

and eventually it got rod knock yay!

I'll sell mine to you for $13k... :p

Just kidding - I've been waiting to buy one of these cars for about two years now.

Thanks again for the replies.

Time to start modding...!

hi,i'm looking at these 2 dsms,

1) 1995 GST 2g, professionally dropped,almost stock,100000miles , for $5999

2) 1995 GSX 2g, almost stock, 141000miles , for $6300

yea,imma newbie,so help me out guys.thanks :thumb:

check www.kbb.com for the cars' actual value (remember there are big differences in private party and dealership prices)

what does "professionally dropped" mean?

im thinking he means professionally lowered.. i would go by which needs more mechanical stuff done to it.. such as timing belts, clutches, tires and whatnot

id say to much for both i got mine for 3800 with all mechanical things done with a new t25 stock turbo and 109k miles on it even though talons generally go for a lower price id say a bit to much for both
