I paid $7,500 for mine in December last year, I say if you wan't it get it, so long as you can afford it.

I'd rather pay top coin for a pristine car than pocket change for a piece of crap that some kid has beat the hell out of.

Funny, some reason I decided I should do the COMPLETE opposite as you.

900$ Dsm

3000$ Total.

Lmfao.

yea i'd agree with paying $5,500 and $6k if it has good compression. Either way i'll probably still get it if i had the money, becuz mint 1g are getter harder to find, well atleast around my area.

If you can turn a wrench,I would go this route. ...

Nothing wrong with that at all, ive been there done that. Im in the marine corps and dont have all the time in the world like i used to to be working on cars, in the long run the price tends to almost equal, if i buy this car theres nothing at all i need to do (theareticaly). hopefully i get good numbers back and i will offer him about 5300 i think, its gonna be a 10 hour trip for me so we will see.

Oh, and FYI, Forced Performance has genuine EvoIII 16g's on sale for $499...you might want to grab one if you pick up this car.

Sidenote, i highly doubt this guy went the cheap route, hes got a ws6 in the garage, an h2, escalade and a bad ass boat, he had the seats custon upolstered, just saying he dont sound like the kinda of guy to take the cheap route.

One of my friends needs some advice, so I thought I would ask you guys. She wants to buy a 1996 Mistu 3000 GT, auto, front wheel drive, with 68,000 miles. The owner is asking $5000. Would you pay that much? Why or why not. No mods, clean interior and exterior. I haven't seen the car yet. I'll try to get some pics.

If you are on a budget I wouldn't recommend it unless you have a car you can use as a daily driver and can dedicate a good 6 months or so to rebuilding it and taking your time to do everything right. Go through the site and read the rules, look through the technical sections and upgrade paths. And if you have any questions, feel free to use the search feature. You will benefit from it greatly and get your answer a lot sooner. Everything you will want to know about what mods to do, rules and frequently asked questions and problems are in this one link. Depending on price it could be a good buy.

Thanks for the reply, i do have a daily driver, but would need to sell it to be able fix the talon. the guy is asking 1500, firm. He didn't have a for sale sign, it had been sitting in his front yard since last summer. I noticed it and asked him about it.

eclipse gst car turbo

he doesnt say what year it is so im not sure of that, but i do know it has 130k miles on it. im probably gunna take a look at it tomorrow, if everything checks out how much do you think is a good price to pick this up for

i also found this Turbo AWD 1990 Eagle Talon Tsi

once again just wanna see what your opinions are on these cars

Since the last gst i picked up had a bad piston ring(dont wanna make that mistake again LOL), what kind of things should i look for when checking these out? i know any weird noises coming from the engine is a big NO but is there anything specific?

thanks

I might be able to get a mint white 95 gst with 39k on the body from a good friend of mine, who paid like 10k for it back in 05 when we got our 2g's and put maybe 5k miles on it before the engine c/w. Only mods are tre trans, ets fmic, dsmlink, exhaust, and type s. Do you guys think 2500 is too low for a car with such low miles even if the motors bad. If it were a gsx I'd offer him alot more for it but its not and idk if i even wanna do a awd swap on a car with such low miles either.

I'm looking at a 95 gsx that supposedly has a knock. Just look for advise. I recently sold my 96 gsx, with 128k on it for $1500 more than this guy is asking. The one I'm looking at has 55k on it, with a bunch of mods. Greddy FMIC, 16g turbo, body kit galore, gauges, exhaust, whatnot. It'd also need to kit painted to match... Either way, this guy wants $4k, I'd try to talk him down to 3k or less. I'd probably drive it a while then sell it.

So, this would be a 7 bolt. Do I worry about crankwalk? I am assuming this guy (or kid) slapped on that 16g turbo, didn't account for fuel needs, ran lean, blew the rod. I'm hoping I can just pull the pan, replace some bearings, and have a nice car that needs paint.

Any thoughts gents?

Hmm... I just got an email back. The guy said that it has been sitting at his garage for 5 years. He also told me that he has a boost gauge, but no boost controller. So... someone put on a bigger turbo, and no boost controller. I wonder if this guy doesn't know what he's saying, or if someone really put on the big turbo without a controller... :nono:

Sounds pretty fishy to me. I am guessing the person is not so bright and doesn't know a thing about cars.

LOL sounds familiar. When I baught my car I got it from the actual owners brother, he couldn't even tell me if it was turbo or not when I originally called the dude. I hope it works out for you, I payed 2,500 for mine and have put alot into the car just to make it an everyday driver. Next step moding :D

Unless it has a ton of performance parts on it that is way too much I just bought a 96 gst spyder with a bad trans, engine mounts, and turbo for $300. Dude thought it had a blown enigne b/c the bad mounts pulled the p/s lines off and it was smoking due to bad turbo and running like crap b/c of tons of boost leak problems. In all it will cost under 1000 (with a used trans and the fact I have a S16g in the garage) to get it on the road and its worth over $4000.

What exactly is "a knock"? Like a sound, or detonation? If you are refering to knock as in detonation I wouldnt buy it at all unless the body/kit is worth what hes asking. If the guy doesnt know anything about his own car who knows how long he drove it around knocking.

If you are refering to a knocking sound, then you are probably still setting yourself up for failure unless you want to risk having to rebuild an engine.

Swapping turbines shouldnt be an issue without a boost controller since a "big" 16g is still actuated (internally wastegated). You wouldnt be able to boost more than the stock setting without a boost controller.

As for worrying about crankwalk, while the 7 bolts are more prone to it, unless you are making some massive modifications it shouldnt be an issue. I was running everything posted in my introduction for 3 years, and boosting 1.6 on a stock turbine 2 years before that with no issues what so ever. Granted, I was out of the limits but I beat the crap out of that car every chance I got so I wasnt expecting it to look great.

too much. there is a 99 GS-T with knock listed close to me for 2200 obo. it has perfect paint and some nice looking black rims with a polished lip. i bought my GSX for 700 and TSi AWD for 1000 with 1200 dollars or so of new performance parts in the back seat.

bringing it back up from the dead, but wow prices in 2003 for these cars were expensive. i paid 1 grand for my 95 gsx mint, granted the engine is pulled and the auto tranny needs replacing but wow 8 grand in 2003, thats like a downpayment on a new evo or a really good down payment for a evo 9

Ya man i paid $8250 for my 98 gsx with 50,000 and the guy had the timing belt changed and a bunch of work done to it and had all the receipts for it and all the documentation on it,i felt very comfortable during that transaction....I think that being comfortable with the car and the seller is very very important:thumb:

I paid $1500 for my 95 GSX with 85k but the tranny had to be rebuilt. I had everything done to the transmission to handle more power for my future engine/turbo. Body/interior/engine was in perfect shape.

Since you've brought it up.. What do you all think- I'm selling my 97 Talon Tsi for about 4700- 182k on the chassis, but only 35k on the engine and it runs really well. In really good shape, but I have to adjust the driver's side window alignment. Other than that it's tip top.

Im looking into a GSX, Really dont know much about eclipses as I have been a honda/nissan guy the past few years.

The mods the guy has listed are the fallowing.
