130k is nothing especially if the car has been properly maintained. The 115k on the GS is not that much less to consider it over the GST. I'd go with the GST if I were you. A GS cannot be compared to a GST. I believe you will enjoy the GST more.

Gst --- Spoiler, Reflective tint, Leather seats, Led Lights, New Alternator, Cat Convertor,Turbo Timer, Racing chip, & Tornado kit.

GS- new clutch kit, new seals and gaskets, new spark plugs, new o2 sensor, new water pump, new timing belt, leather interior, comes with an extra hatch and a different wing.

Well do you want a turbo or a non turbo car? our cars arent that hard to maintain, or expensive so with the turbo, you can maintain it, and you still have a turbo car.

Is the GST an auto or manual trans.? Not that it matters, I'd still choose the GST. Both these cars can make good daily drivers. Search the forums for more information on the GST. Do a comparison and maybe that will help you decide.

Sincerely thank you guys for your comments...i WILL keep my gsx.i met the guy today and drove the car it drives real nice. But our roads are covered and everytime u give it gas the front seems to slide sideways.Or if ## starting out and the wheels spin the front goes sideways...My gsx does this at full boost but it'll actually drive halfway sideways straight LOL.And if it gets to crazy i just left off gas and it always corrects itself.

When i told the guy some of the comments i received off dsmtuners he got pissy then offered 500 cash to go along. But i think i'll just get mine painted and when the baby comes maybe trade it or sell it for a family car or something.

Thanks U guys

Well I was jw b/c 4200 is pretty much tops i can do for buying a car, i was just a lil worried that the gst might have some problems that would cost a lot. and if i got the gs id have money if problems would arise.

Maybe you can talk him down a couple hundred dollars to make you feel better. Test drive it to see how you like it. Ask him if he's done any maintanence on it recently. Also do a carfax if you want. It's just as easy to maintain the Turbo 4g63T GST as it is to maintain the non-turbo 420A GS.

Good choice. It's funny how he got mad. I guess he really wanted your GSX and to get rid of his RS.

EDIT- Looks like I submitted my reply a little late. Glad you came to your senses and made the right decision! Now go out and enjoy your '90GSX! Oh, and get a paint job too. LOL

Dont do it...You're used to AWD. You wont like the FWD.

I used to have a GS 420a with turbo ...I sold it, bought a AWD and I LOVE the AWD 10000 times better than the GS.

^Listen to someone who's had BOTH.

i have a 90 gsx that besides paint everything motor/trand/wheels/rims/ has been replaced in last month[/B

These were replace last month? If so, you should have a reliably running car for at least the next 5+ years. Why would you throw that money already spent away in a trade for an RS?

guy 2 hrs away wants to trade me for a 95 rs that has the 420a..but he said they changed the internals and lowered compression for turbo.cam'ed it and put bigger injectors.car is mint inside and out and has 18's under it.currently its a n/t...comes with a 14b turbo thou separte. I read all the 420a forum and it seems this is a hard motor to turbo.QUOTE]

First of all, it's an RS you'd be trading your GSX for. Not a good trade in my book. The guy 'SAID' he did all the engine work. Can he prove it? I'll say this, in many person to person transactions it's usually "BUYER BEWARE". If you're going through with this, make SURE the car is everything he says it is. Ask to see the receipts. Even then, it doesn't prove WITHOUT A DOUBT that ANYTHING has been done to the engine. Even if the car was another GSX, I'd still be cautious about internal parts that I can't see or visually verify myself.

Now if the 420a forum members are saying the motor is difficult to turbo, why would you think this motor would be any different? There's a lot more to safely and reliably turboing an engine than just lowering the compressing and slapping on a turbo- knock sensor, ignition retard control, fuel control and a rising-rate FPR just to name a few. There's a reason our turbo cars came with this stuff (an more) and why the 420a didn't.

He's probably mad because his 'once in a lifetime' deal fell through! It really would have been the 420a owner's win if he actually traded it for the GSX.

But is 130k bad for that car?

it depends on the condition of the motor but i'd still definitely get the turbo... later on if you buy the gs you'll probably want the turbo and it's much more of a pain to go from NA to Turbo... you'll find that out real quick... take a look at the GST and pending condition i would pick that up. or keep searching for another one.

When buying the gst ask for maintenence records. If they dont have any, that should be your next step with the car before you start modding it.

But is 130k bad for that car?

Not if properly maintained. My '90 GSX just turned 160k on the odometer and it's running like a champ- with proper maintenance and judicious performance mods added in. :thumb:
I'm pretty sure there are engines with over 200k out there. Ask for maintenance records and receitpts on scheduled items like oil, timing belt, water pump, etc. See if the seller would at least allow you to do a boost leak test, compression test or check for excessive turbo shaft play. While you're doing a compressin test, you could inspect the spark plugs for signs of oil, carbon and a lean or rich mixture which could give you some indication of the engines condition.

And if you don't want to have to do all the maint. right away you could always look for another one which has been maintained. It's really up to you. I hate to say it, but there's no way anyone can really decide which is better for you beside you, yourself. If you're afraid to have to dump money in the car right away or you're afraid to work on it, then you better make sure you find the right one, one that has been maintained. A turbo car is fun when it's running right, but it can also make you miserable if you don't have money to fix it, don't know how to fix it, or don't want to learn how to fix it. With the help of this site you can do almost anything you want to do (within reason/finances) to these cars and you HAVE to be your own mechanic. There's always going to be problems, as with any car, but just keep an open mind and learn from others on this site and you can do it. Sorry for rambling on, I'm just trying to say think about what you really want out of your ride and what you're willing to put into it.;) AND

non turbo dsm/car = work
turbo dsm/car = more work LOL

ITs your money just ask questions and check maintenance, me i got my non turbo, got a block and then did alll the maintenance over time.
