It had roughly like 150K before the engine was rebuilt, btw its 100% stock never moded.

Doesn't look stock in the pictures. Looks like it has an exhaust. Body looks pretty rough, paint wise. It's definately worth looking into, and $2k for the car is a pretty good deal.

When purchasing a DSM or any car in general...

1. ALWAYS run a car fax report.

2. Bring a mechanic with you, or take it to a nearby shop. (The drive there will be a great test drive also, and at the very least a mechanics professional opinion will help you lower the price even more [there's always something wrong with a used car] )

3. BEFORE YOU HAND OVER THE CASH!!! Make sure there are no leans on the vehicle make sure it does not say SALVAGE and most importantly remember to match the VIN on the car with the VIN on the title.

4. To be on the safe side make a bill of sale (nothing fancy is necessary) it protects both party's involved. Make a copy for him at kinkos and make a copy of his license while you're there.

5. Remember not to let your love for these cars cloud your judgement, make this an objective business decisioon and you'll be fine. It is also extremely important to use your intuition and senses when analyzing the person that is selling the car to you. In other words follow your gut...

Hope this helps! Looks like a steal though...:thumb:

Whats with the driver side door sticking out at the bottom but not the top? It looks rough, a good deal but maybe you can get him to buff it for you or something :p

i paid 5k for my tsi, bone stock, with 86k, so looks good to me, try to go down a couple hundreds, + do a comp test, gl :)!
Exact same thing but mine came with an Alpine sound system and a fresh paint job. But I bought it for the potential, none of which had been previously fulfilled.

EDIT: Hey and it's all wheel drive also! That's for sure the way to go. You won't regret it. A decent paint job isn't too pricey and you would have a really great car! :)
EDIT 2: I'm missing the passenger sideskirt. Ha :) Those are some ugly ass rims though. They look like Mazda rims. Ugh.

OK I tried doing a couple searches to find a possible answer with no luck. I am a VW guy and have owned 22 of them. I have what sounds to be a good trade offer for my gti vr6 for a 95 talon tsi awd and $1000. it does have some problems and I will just post the email he sent.

any help would be greatly appreciated as to of wether or not I should consider this to be my first dsm.

thanks guys.

it never dies when driving, it just drives a little rough, in 5th gear only, idk why its only 5th that the symptom comps up. so i drive it daily in 4th gear where its soomth as can be. when you get into 5th at 55 its a little boggy beacuse of the dead spot on the tps, but it goies away when you get past 3000 rpms in 5th gear, so i only go 65 plus in 5th on the freeways, and hwys. but up north its all 55, and 30 mph speed limits. its a perfect in town car, if you never put it into 5th gear. it just needs to get tuned up, it sounds a little like what it sounds like when you go to slow in 5th gear, the exhust kinda gets deep, thats the noise that you heare in 5th gear driving 55, but its about a 1/3 o what dogging it in 5th feels like. id say its almost hardly noticable. the rear differencal you mean i belive? its full of oil, all axles, and tierods are good. only one sturt clunks when you hit bumps in the back. ac needs recharging. and the power lock on the passener door dont work by power, but you can still switch it by hand. those are the only things wrong with my car. it seems to be very solid besides the coulpe bad things, but i put them out in the open, and i hope i can switch cars with someone who has time for this. it was a dumb idea for a noob car enthueist to buy a turbo car, and i dont know any tthing about time. iv been trying to check for boost leaks, and other things, but i havnt found anyting let, just a few loose clamps. the tubo spools good, and the car feels like it has good pwer, i try to keep the rpm bellow 4000. i dont wanna stress the engine at all. i want the best resale as possible. since the guy before me took good care of it, im not trying to break the chian and beat the crap out of it. no cracks in winsheild. tires are good. drives striaght. everything pretty much works:beatentodeath::beatentodeath::beatentodeath::beatentodeath::beatentodeath::beatentodeath::beatentodeath::beatentodeath::beatentodeath:

oh also I am assuming what he means instead of the tps it is probably the iacv judging by the searches I have done. or maybe it is a horrible boost leak that only is noticible (to him) in 5th

Dude it's not a Volkswagon! You have to rev DSM's above 4000 rpm to make any power. It's designed to rev to 7000, and they've been known to go quite a bit past that on occasion. If it feels a little sluggish in 5th, it's because you need to downshift. Whatever you do, don't worry about braking the "chian" or whatever that is, because turbo DSM's don't have one of those.

Even if it's high mileage, as long as it's not making noises, and you have decent oil pressure, I would feel comfortable taking it to at least 6000 rpm. Especially if you're driving in mountains. If it still dogs then, perhaps you have a problem.

so is what you are saying is that I should get it. I have not even seen the car yet as he lives 200 miles away, but that is what he was describing to me was a problem

i personally would check compression numbers first, but it sounds like a good deal. i dont believe a tps would show up in 5th gear only.

Test drive it. See what you think about how it drives.
I would personally stay away from one that has issues before you even get it.

I regularly drove my talon in 5th gear around 40-50mph in the city and it drove right around 2200 rpms, and only started to bog if it got to around 1500(which I never let it do). So the 5th gear being weird is not due to him lugging the engine like a noob. It sounds like the tranny maybe or boost leak, because like others said, the TPS would mess it up in all gears. Take a boost gauge with you, and see how much vacuum it pulls at idle.

that is exactly what I was thinking. I have had multiple turbo vehicles, and with the small t-25 or 16g you guys call it I believe. It should not have lag like that, hell I put a gt30r on a 1.8t and you could still take off going 45 in 5th without too much hesitation, and that turbo was a little overkill. looked pretty sweet after cerami coating it all chrome

i just deiced to buy a 1995 eagle talon ESI. it is all stock except for the exhaust. it needs some minor work done. it has 110K on the engine and body. its clean in and out. its color is a dark green. looks like it needs a new bumper and also i think it needs a new paint job. he is selling it to more for 2000$$$ is this worth it
here is where it is pics are here
96 eagle talon esi

I took a look at the link, and I would not get it. Theres not enough pics of the car, or details. The paint looks ok though, but theres only 3 pics, and none of them are very close. If you've called him, took a look at the car, dirven it around, and everything is up to par then get it if you wish. But maybe theres a nice Tsi Awd floating close to the same price, hmm?

so i have been looking for a new 2g awd in my area and i came across this one that i just cant turn away from. it is a 95 tsi awd with a 4g64 bottom end. the mods it has are,
4g64 stock bottom end
fully rebuilt head (ported and polished) all new valves, guids, retainers, springs
walbro 255 and 550 injectors
safcll
evolll 16g, fmic, hks ssq bov, 3in exaust
body:
97-99 eclipse conversion, halo/projector headlights
gst high rise, cf hood, 17 enkeis rims
some kind of coilovers, new paint
short throw, and a bunch of other little things.

so the first thing i want to know if this would be a good buy for 3500?

second, i asked him what the compresion ratio on the stock pistons where and he said it was a 9-1. he said that different years of the 4g64 came with different CR but these are 9-1...... is that a good thing and what could i run the boost at with those mods and not hurt anything. he said he is running 11psi and i just dont know if i could crank it up a little and be safe. the guy seems to know what he is talking about but i just wanted someone elses opinion. i have been reading the 4g64 posts and im starting to like it more, i dont want a drag car out of this i just want one day to have about 450-500whp street car.

the only problem the car had was it smoked a little bit so the guy ripped it apart and replaced the valves, one was bent, and changed the stock rings. put it back together and it was gone and fine.

You may want to put some forged pistons in the engine. That's the only thing I see that may cause problems in the future. A set of performance rods would not hurt either.

so i see your running the same bottom end, any prblems with it? have you ever dynoed or made a pass with this setup? i was planning on swapping out the 16g with the holset hx35 with the bullseye CH, bigger injectors, smim, some kind of exaust mani, getting a wb02, and dsmlink. i just like the setup it has to start off.

Came across a 1990 laser rs fwd. Its a 5 speed, 62k original miles, all stock, no rust interior and exterior look like its 2 years old not 20, still the original owner, a man who is now retired, and is selling it for 4,995 because he just bought a new 350z. only downside is a little sag in the headliner, which I can redoe in a snap.

My thing is it's not awd but its nice and in my price range. Is it worth it considering its not awd?
