seems as if the timing belt let lose. they are going to rebuild the head. and put in a new timming belt...
just my luck.

95 seems to be all stock.

99 dont know who modded it. appears to be a reposession that this local dealer got from an auction. knowing who did the mods is probably impossible. it seems to be done properly. looks like a B16G front mount. ( dont know brand) hard pipes, HKS BOV, S-AFC.
oil pressure gauge, oil temp gauge, boost guage. dont know how well it was tuned.

Hmmm, someone wasn't keeping up on the car. Broken timing belt thats bad. I hope the pistons weren't damage. The price for the 999 with those mods is way to high. I know for a fact that as a car dealer. When you sale a car with mods on it. It sells lower than a stock car. An he got it at a auction so he only at the most payed 4k for it. I bought a BMW 318IS for 6K from a dealer an 2 weeks after i found out the dealer got it for 1700. thats when I went to get the title don't an asked for the sale price on the vehicle at the DMV. Also alot of dealers wont touch cars with mods for the reason they don't know if its going to stay running. Thats why alot of people on here end up parting out there cars. As for my Talon its a AWD an I paid 3k for it. It has some rust on it but rust is easy to get rid of. All you need is time an sandpaper an a good primer. And when your done put the road sealant spray on the bottom of the car to keep it from rusting again.

Hey guys i'm looking to purchase a 92 tsi awd 5 speed. It's got a little over 240,000 kms and the timing belt had just went on the car. The guy is willing to trade his talon for my SUV (2000 Kia Sportage) and he's willing to put cash down for around $800 on top. Any other things i should be on the look out for for this car?

Forgot to mention the seller says he was trying to start the car one day and the belts were not moving fast enough to start the car, so what are the chances of damaging the valves, pistons, etc?

I'll have to clarify with the seller if the belt slipped or snapped. But right now the way it looks i don't think it's worth it if ill need to do major maintenance for it, and im pretty sure the $800 cash he's putting on top won't cover much.

Sorry I couldn't resist.

Looks like a good deal to me.

+1 on getting rid of that riced out front bumper.

WTF is on the exhaust manifold??

oh LOL its a heat cover for it....it started to make my hood hella hot! so i picked one up from the junk yard :) it was from a 1g talon

Is it the lower cover stretched and bent to fit on top??? Looks like the hole for the wastegate actuator on top there...

Ok there's a guy in my area that is selling his 94 gst. He says it has a built 4g63t, 6 bolt. It's flat black, and he's asking $3000. Here's the list of things he says it has done to it. He did these things himself because he says he is a certified mechanic. He didn't have any pics but says the body is clean and no rust. Just wondering if it is something I should be getting into or if I should stay away. Don't want to waste my time looking at it if it's not worth it. Also he said it needs a good tune.

I would be careful, sounds like something might be up. Thats a very low price for whats all done to that car. I paid $3300 for my car that was bone stock, but then again it only had 55,000 miles on it. It probally wouldnt hurt to go look at it, but look over everything. Take it for a test drive and see how it drives.

Needs a good tune sends out a red flag.

Having all those go fast parts and still using safc sends out a red flag.

My guess would be that the car has never run right and that is why it's being sold. Not a well sorted car. But that's just a guess so who knows. You never can tell unless you go look at it.

Thing is that I wouldn't know what to look for if I did go look at it. I mean of course I know obvious things, but I'm no dsm know it all. He said he does daily drive this though.

Also, are all of those parts decent? I know some of them by name, but does everything seem fairly decent as far as internals and such (example: IG big rods)?

like title says i am looking to buy my first dsm and i have done research awhile ago but i am still reluctant to get into them. the cars main purpose will be daily driving/track car. i have another vehicle to use just in case but i want a reliable car i can track/take to snow/have fun with and not worry too much. here is the discreption on the car i am looking to get. i know it needs a tranny and i am looking at a shep stage one(if i get the car). any insight would be awesome! is this the right car for me?

It has a balance shaft illumination kit?
I know it's a typo. LOL. Well, for the price, it sounds like a good deal if all it needs is a trans.

i read both of those and it answered a majority of my questions. my next question is how do these mods that the guy has said is in the car stack up? does it sound like a potentially reliable car? also how much would it generaly cost to get a trans like he has rebuilt and a new wheel bearing? if i replace one should i replace them all?

thanks for the help!! wanting to make the most edcuated purchase i can. not looking for headaches.

This guy not too far from me is selling his 1995 Eagle Talon Tsi. He wants $1800 for it and claims that the engine is making a loud noise. It could be the lifters but im thinking its the rods. How hard is it to replace the rods, and how much money do you think it wouild cost? He just said on the phone that its drivable, just makes a loud noise. I have a 1992 Talon Non Turbo and have rebuilt the cylhead and replaced basically everything. Im prety good mechanically and willing to learn. Ps. im taking a look at it tomorrow.
Thanks for the help everyone, heres the link.

1995 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD - Oshawa Other Cars For Sale - Kijiji Oshawa

There's no reason why this car couldn't be reliable as long as it was built/put together right. Offer him 3500 see what happens. It sounds like a hell of a deal.
