I am just wondering if i got a good or ok deal. My car is a 1996 Eclipse GSX. 125,xxx miles and its a automatic. Its fully loaded with leather, sunroof, cd player and etc. Its in really good shape and has never been moddified or anything. It does have a knock (jury is still out on it) but i already expected to install a motor. I paid $1500 for the car. So did i get hosed or was it a alright deal. Just wondering

$1500 is a pretty good deal considering the car looks like it's in great condition, at least as far as the exterior and interior are concerned. It would be even better if it was a manual but you can always change it over if that's what you want to do.

yeah it needs a motor (i think it makes funny noises) it was a one owner car and was given to the daughter who proceeded to hurt the motor. Sorry about the no motor shot its bone stock. I dont know much about these cars, if it was a big block mopar i would know right away but not with these, i figured i would come and talk to the masters of these cars :thumb:

Nice car!
But the automatic is a yuck :D
No biggie though, its a car!
Good deal actually.
Some lady wanted 1250 for a 94 eagle talon first gen.
I talked her down to 900 and now it's my current car!
Oh yeah it's manual too :D
Best of luck with your new car!

I completely agree about the auto part :barf: all my other cars are sticks well except my fleetwood and truck. My 70 cuda and 71 superbee are all sticks and wouldnt have them any other way. I really wish it was about 6 years ago. The salvage yard i work has at one time 6 to 7 1 gen. talons and eclipse turbo cars. They really didnt part that well and all went to the big dealership in the sky. I really wish those cars were still around so i could of helped some members here with some parts. So are there any tips to replacing a engine in these car, anything i gotta watch out for?

This worries me though,
Why would someone sell a car they did all that work to so recently?
They probably beat it to shit, and now need to get rid of it.

on hes a good friend of mine this is why he wants to get rid of it. right now at his house theres 6 cars total not enough room he wouldnt sell this one but he just bought a white evo

trust me it's my old car, and i tuned it right before it went 10.4, i know for sure it's 100% .... tranny shifts awesome too!!

yeah i went in that car the day before it went 10.4 at the track. that car is insane i just wish it had stronger rods....im not totally sure what im going to do yet but i just may buy it

LOVE the auto. No dragging clutch, no notchy shifting, and never miss a gear. A friend of mine picked up an auto AWD for $800. Spent $3k on mods and ran 11's consistently. Auto's perform AWESOME with a shift kit and a higher stall. Not too harsh on the street either. Nice buy!

AFTER I sold my GST SPYDER......I bought my 95 GSX for that same price(with melted pistons)... I think it was a really good decission that I made, I had money left over and learned ALOT about my dsm and DSM's in particular

$10,500 would be around the price for a PERFECT 2g with similar mods. The car sounds like it was done right, but 1g's realistically don't sell for that much. From what I've seen on the classifieds on tuners and source, 1g's with "everything done" are going for around $7-8k, and 2g's for $10-11k. I would think he'd give you a deal on the car? Sounds way too expensive for me.

that was a great deal.. auto is great for a DD but if u really want performance get a manual conversion.
so what kinda noises does the engine make?
you might get away wit fixing it and not havin to replace the whole engine.

lucky hahahahahahah i got my car for 600 dollars but it looked like a cow then

now

hahahhahasha

GOOD LUCK on that man nice buy

Long story short I am looking to sell my car for a gst. The engine in my car is about worn out and I just put a new trans in it. Anyway there is a 1997 gst for sale on craigslist for $4900. About 3 months ago it was $6500. 1997 GST Eclipse

I already test drove it and it runs great at idle. There is a belt squeek near the water pump. What is the throttle response for stock turbos supposed to be? I am used to driving my 16g. It just seemed laggy above 5000rpm.

Is this a good deal? I might be able to get it for $4600

List of mods

green chameleon paint
nuospeed springs 2-3" drop
17" chrome wheels with new tires
custom subs in trunk floor 3 mtx 10"
2600 watt amp and 1000 watt amp
pioneer premire mp3 player
pioneer premiere speakers
front and rear camber kit
oil changed every 3000 miles

i picked up my 95 fwd tsi for 3200 with much less miles than that, And from what i can tell in better shape to.

just to give you an idea i suppose.
