hmmm..
i like it i think it is a baller set up. biut what puzzles me is with an fp green 650's a 255 AFPR ect. ect. why is he still tuning with an safc-II. i like the car and think that its nice but if it was me i would talk down the price and put dsm link in the day i bought it. the car would run better and make more power.
pat:talon:

You know I forgot to ask about that, I was wondering that myself when it came to the safc-II. How much do DSM links go for? And any other recommendations? Oh and is 6,500 reasonable?

Thanks for the quick reply!

That is a good looking Talon! I would say that $6500 is reasonable. DSMLink goes for about $515 but I believe you would have to get your ECU socketed which would cost a little more.

it seems that every mod that was done was done right. as far as buying nice parts oposed to cheap S#!T. and i like how he has alot of FP stuff as well as a shep trans. with every thing built you can have a 6500 street/strip car that is reliable. that is a true rareity.
usally its cheap fast reliable..... pick 2
but in this case someone has already put the money in i would say buy dsm link and offer 6500 and you will have one fun car.

Yeah I was reading up, socketing would be necessary. I have a beater that I could drive in the mean time so thats not to big of an issue, but I guess I would be trailering it to a tuner once it came back. And by you would be in Ohio might be worth the hike, I don't know of any DSM tuners in my area. (35 miles North of Philadelphia) BTW Thank you all, I hope I get this car and can become and active member in this community.

always glad to help a fellow dsm;er
ya in pennsylvania there is slowboy i would give them a call as i dont know though if they tune
also in ohio buscher racing specializes in dsm's but is a little IMO pricy.
i went to slow motion racing here in columbus. they are great and the owner i know corey parish is an excellent tuner i would consider the best oin ohio.
i will pm you later what i paid exactly to have my ecu chipped dsm link put in and the price of dsm link plus dyno and tune.
they are pretty reseanable.
pat

Sounds good, I emailed the guy with the offer. And yeah whenever you get a chance PM me, I don't mind going to Ohio if its for a good tune.

One more addition that I didnt see in the mod list is a Wideband o2. There is an AutoMeter "Stoich" Gauge listed but that is probablly a Narrowband and wont be of much use in the tuning process. I would say that a Wideband is pretty necessary with that mod list and the planned tuning. Best of luck getting the car!!!:talon:

How did this go?

I hope things other than the tuning/hardware aren't suspect, such as rusty underbody or unmentioned drivetrain issues.

I wish I woulda found something like this before I bought my car.

I just put an offer in today, so wish me luck. Also are these prone to rusting out like the 2g's? And as far as tuning it has extremely low miles on fresh build, so I plan on doing DSM link, wide band 02, and tune right away. That should eliminate all those worries right away. Haven't a fair number of DSM's seen their death via safc-II or other controllers?:nono:

Just a quick update, I talked to the owner about the wideband and he responded with this.

"The car has a pyrometer, boost gauge, and digital rpm guage with shift light. The car was tuned by Switzer Performance Innovations. The car does come with a logger and mmcd. A program that monitors everything on the car from timing to knock, so you can always keep an eye on it or adjust settings if necessary. "

Not sure what a pyrometer is, if anyone cares to explain. Any thoughts or gripes on Switzner? And also unsure on the mmcd, if anyone knows anything about that I'm all ears.

Thanks,
Ryan

A pyrometer is an EGT guage. EGT = Exhaust Gas Temperature. Just to make sure your internals aren't melting for the most part. :D

Switzer is an old school DSMer, now I'm not sure that he did the actual tune on the car or if it was one of his employee's, but it should be good.

Oh EGT, never heard it refered to as pyrometer. And I'm unsure as to the mmcd, what is it?

:::SIDE NOTE:::: He took my offer of 6,500! Looks like you guys have a new fellow DSM!

Where do they sell replacement COP for the (Switzer Performance Coil-on-plug Ignition ) Since it looks like Switzer doesn't dable in DSM anymore.

The 1g's might be slightly prone under the side-skirts, where the sheet metal "jacking points" are and maybe fenders if unmaintained. But my 1g's have stayed cancer-free.

I guess I just consider what the car will be meant for, for you. Daily driver is very different than weekend warrior, and obviously race car.

Guy is having a hard time coming up with receipts, My feelings are starting to turn on this car.:toobad: Still mine if I want it, any feed back would help. Not sure if its worth the risk or not.

Thanks!

What are the receipts for, im assuming the major engine/drivetrain work? It looks like a good setup. Have you seen/driven the car yet? That will be the best bet in making the decision. Good luck.

I'll be driving out shortly to test drive it. I'm pretty hyped about the car minus the receipts for the shep trans, motor, fp valve train, and ect. But we'll see how it turns out, guess I'll put a down payment on it today.:rocks:

Hey guys I am looking at buying a White 98 5-speed GSX. Everything is stock except for the blow off valve and there is 90,000 on the stock 7bolt. The paint is in pretty good condition except the front bumper has a few chips and the hood has some very small rust spots. The interior is black/tan. The price is marked at $6,500. What do you guys think?
